About Me

Hey everybody
my name is Karl. I finished my studies in Psychology in 2017 and will soon begin my training programme to become a psychotherapist. At the moment I am really looking around.. that is probably the best way to say it. After working at the university for a year I took some time off to travel, meditate and explore different life styles. I guess I am searching for something I dont really know where to find it and I love the feeling of leaving my well-structured path to see what else is possible (I quickly realised, I do need a lot of structrue, so I am not gonna look out for too long ^^)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love projects where the focus is on exchange, be it couch-surfing or wwoofing, etc. I believe that the more people from different backgrounds you meet the wiser you get and there is a certain inner richness coming along with that. I want to interact and exchange ideas with people who are open and who can help me finding out about all the exciting flavours of a new place.
(I do have a slight leftist touch as well so any project being about something else than profit is my thing!)
Revealing the politican in me: I strongly believe that social cohesion is the most important ressource we have and I think Couchsurfing is just doing the right thing to increase that.

Interests

I do like when people create something by themselves and give me an insight into it. I am playing the mandolin since I am 6 years old and spend a good amount of time singing in choirs (A lot of church choirs) . So classical music is a huge interest of mine but as I said, I am into a lot of things when I get to understand the passion of the people behind it.

I am exploring meditation at the moment, going on retreats and just look for experiences which help me finding out more about myself. I am super curious about the world in general (lately I developed a huge interest for compost-showers and ecological gardening in general..) so lets see what comes up next!

Music, Movies, and Books

My all-time favourite movie is "When in Brugge". Irish actors, dark humor - exactly my thing!
The book which probably transformed my life is "Zen - and the art of motor cycle maintenance" by Robert Pirsig. After that book I decided to take a year of and look for this magic thing called "intuition".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess my Erasmus-exchange to Ireland was one of the best things I have done in my life. Wonderful people, wonderful music. And this special character you could feel listening to a Pub-session, singing in the Cathedral or taking part in a Stand-up performance.

Countries I’ve Visited

China, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russian Federation, Singapore, Thailand, United States
