About Me
A brief introduction:
Hello there! My name Jianna and my boyfriend's name is Adrien. I'm an american (from the genteel southern states) with degree in cultural anthropology and my Boyfriend is a Frenchman (from the northern part of France) getting his masters in International business.
We met in Tokyo, Japan and while we were working there we fell in love with one another. ^^ And then we decided that we wanted to travel together.
Our Plans:
Now, we recently moved to Shanghai, China together. However, we have a short vacation time in the beginning of November and we want to take that opportunity to travel to beautiful Taiwan.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I adore sharing cultures and learning about our differences. It's so fascinating to learn that although two cultures can be wildly different- our similarities of being human always bring the gap even if language cant. (We laugh, we cry, we smile, we hug. We care about our families and friends, we worry about being embarrassed, we all space out when asked to tell a joke)
Adrien and I love traveling, and while it can be nice to stay in a hotel or hostel- one certainly isn't experiencing the true feeling of that area or culture. Some of our best and dearest friends are people from different cultures that we met for just a short few months. We hope that through And hopeful make more lifelong friends from around the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
(Why not three?)
-Adrien and I hosted/organized a Thanksgiving Dinner (The American Holiday Version in late November) with a group of people from 8 different counties. We asked everyone to bring one food item from their own culture that was personally significant to them. See, Thanksgiving is a holiday that is about giving thanks to what has happened to you that year and traditionally, once all the food is on the table, everyone goes around one by one and gives a speech about what they are thankful for. It was truly amazing to be able to 1) Sharing the dishes from around the world (did I mention I love food?) and learning about different spices and how flavors 2) Getting to hear what all my friends and guests were thankful for- it was truly a wonderful, wonderful holiday.
-I want backwater rafting in underground caves in New Zealand. The only lights were the glowworms scattered on the cavernous walls. (They looked like glittering stars in heavens)
-One of Adrien’s favorite moments when he visited the united States was seeing 15 live shows in one night in the jazz capital of the world: New Orleans.
Teach, Learn, Share
I study cultures. And I'm interested in studying not only the present, modern culture of a place but also how and why that culture evolved that way.
My goal, (and what im currently doing) is to create a short documentary about other cultures for american children to watch and learn about other people lives around the world.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Well, We both love to share our own cultures and learn about others. (In fact, that’s my job hahah!) I can share facts/tales about my own culture and a few others from both a personal and academic standpoint. (ex: How did our cultures become the way they are now? Why does “that one” culture appear to be so rude? Why are there so many verbal miscommunications between these two cultures?)
We can also help you with your French or English as well.
Adrien also would love to jam (play freestyle music) with you!!!
We can also offer advise if you want to travel tips to the USA, France, or Japan. ^^
Oh! I also am making some small documentary (for youtube) by interviewing people to show that although cultures are different, there have very, very many similarities no matter where we come from. Haha- If you’d be interested in participating, just let me know!!
Basically, we can cook and meal for you and swap a few good tales, if you'll let us. ;)
