About Me

Hello, it's me. I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet to go over everything (... )Hello, can you hear me?

No, i'm not adele. But i could be. Couldn't I? I also like rethorical questions(?).

I think I have a good sense of humor. You can be the judge of that.

Okay. So, I'm 25 years and just finished medical school in Portugal. The thing that atracted me about medicine was the riddles, the challenge of putting symptoms ans signs together to reach a diagnosis. During my years in college, when in contact with patients, I found out how easy it is to comfort people and the privilege of knowing so many interesting people that willingly share their life stories with me.
Instead of following the road that was naturally expected, which included doing a big exam after medical school, I decided to take a gap year. altough it's not really a year, as in 12 months. I decided to backpack around southeast asia for 3 months, starting December 7th. In order to do that, I needed to get some money so I've worked for two months as a tuk tuk driver/tour guide in Lisbon and two more months at a Hostel in Bairro Alto, one of the coolest neighborhoods in Lisbon. It was a very big decision and one i'm proud of.

When I was 19, almost 20, I was one of 3 co-founders of a volunteering project, called Transformers Project. I've worked there for 2 and a half years in what was one of the most amazing experiences i had! It was difficult at times but 100 times more rewarding, and in ways I could never explain. It brought me the oportunity to travel to singapore and Italy and the chance to meet people I wouldn't have met otherwise, some of which are still my great great friends.

I love movies. My favorite TV show is FRIENDS.
I love Lisbon, it's an incredible city! And I am a proud Portuguese citizen.
I'm optimistic about the world and mankind. I think politics is a great way to make a difference, if you do it right for the right reasons, and with integrity.

Finally, and most important: I love Roger Federer, the Greatest Player of All Time (aka GOAT)! If you don't agree, we can trade arguments. But Federer will still be better.

Music, Movies, and Books

music - a bit of everything. except heavy metal. from motown to indie rock. cool bands i'm into recently include the war on drugs and real estate. all times greats for me include kings of leon (mainly early records), arcade fire and coldplay (yeah... a bit of a guilty pleasure)

movies - big big movie fan! i'll probably forget to include some great movies but... the godfather (a cliché for a reason), the departed, inception, irma la douce, the rope, manhattan + manhattan murder mystery + crimes and misdemeanors from woody allen, searching for sugarman, hannah arendt, the secret in their eyes (original from argentina), it's a wonderful world, life is beautiful, pulp fiction.....

books - east of eden, 100 years of solitude, almost every book from agatha christie, the uncommon reader

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In October 2012 I was one week in Italy, visiting the San Patrignano Community, the biggest drug rehabilitation community in the world. I was there with a volunteering project I was part of, in Portugal. It was probably the best experience I had until today. I was there with some great friends from that project; we stayed at a hostel near the beach with groups from all over the world (Uganda, brazil, germany, italy, canada); everyone was incredebely special and had amazing histories; the people in the community were warm, wise, funny, and ludicrously kind and generous in their words and the way they shared their stories. It was a very intense week and I would love to live it again for the first time. Not being possible, I will never forget it.
