About Me

Hey! I'm Francisco (but I prefer to be called Lidón 😊). My partner Kristin and I live a happy and active lifestyle doing yoga, going for outdoor adventures, making delicious vegetarian food, and talking about all kinds of things! We love meeting new people and getting to know new languages, cultures, ideas, and experiences.

We speak both English and Spanish, so we're happy to share whatever language you prefer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing seems like an awesome initiative for saving money, but in reality is a more direct way to travel, getting to know places from a local point of view, a way of meeting open-minded and like-minded travellers. Becoming educated about a people and a place from other perspectives helps one to put pieces together about the world as a whole, and furthermore, for one’s own puzzle.

Interests

Travelling, getting to know people and other cultures, sports, nature, and vegetarian cuisine are a few of my biggest interests, but in general I am open to trying new things. I never know what might be my next hobby or goal, but I’m always up for a new one : )

Music, Movies, and Books

About music, I like a little bit of everything. I’m the type who gets a song stuck in his head and can’t let it go until I find it.

As for books, I enjoy reading sci fi, but also have a strong autodidactic taste. I can read a manual about vertical rescue rigging or the development of emotional intelligence with the same enthusiasm as the high science fiction stories from Ray Bradbury and Arthur C. Clarke.

Some movies I’d recommend for those who are on the path to finding themselves (just as I am) would be:

The Shift
The Shift (El Cambio)
Fight Club
Into the Wild
La Belle Verte
Big Fish

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Slumdog Millionaire
Cloud Atlas ( El Atlas de las nubes)
Mr. Nobody
Cinco olas, cinco continentes (serie documentary)
20 Seconds of Joy (documentary)
Human Planet (serie documental)
Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey (Serie documentary)
Adventure Time

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumping out of planes was a pretty cool period in my life, but I can’t say that there is one experience that stands out among others. Backpacking through South America a few years ago was pretty incredible and always an interesting topic for speaking.

Teach, Learn, Share

I’d like to learn more about new places and cultures. I’m always interested in those who have something to share about other languages, new vegetarian recipes, outdoor sports, yoga and meditation.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can give what I know about some yummy vegetarian dishes as well as paella Valenciana : )

I also have a lot to share about the basics of rock climbing and canyon rappelling, orienteering, spelunking, swimming, surfing, and scuba.

I practice Ashtanga yoga and also do some acro yoga. I’m always happy to share what I know about yoga series, or be to a base in acro.
