About Me

'Leave the gun, take the cannoli.'

I'm an idealist and a dreamer. I have a huge, sarcastic sense of humour and I believe that being able to laugh at yourself is one of the most liberating things you can learn.

I love animals and respect the nature, which is why I'm vegetarian and hopefully one day vegan.

I always enjoy a good talk and exchange of opinions. As long as it's respectful and factual, it might be better to talk with someone you disagree with, because only then you really have to think and reassess your views.

I'm a hopeless foodie, wherever I go, local cuisine is the first thing I have to tick off. Which isn't easy not eating meat, but then you just have to be more creative. ;)

I like hiking in the nature and getting lost in cities (this one I've probably got from living in Venice, where GPS is pretty much useless and diving in the labyrinth of its narrow streets is the best way of sightseeing anyhow). And I like to have my old analogue camera with me then.

I do not tolerate racism, chauvinism, sexism, homophobia, antisemitism or any sort of assholeism in general.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I prefer solo travelling, it gives me flexibility and forces me to get out of my comfort zone, face my fears, overcome my limitations, get in touch with myself and learn. But it surely doesn't mean that I don't want to spend time with people, because meeting people is always an important part of the journey. It's what I feel traveling's about - discovering, sharing stories, growing.

I've never treated this place as a free accommodation platform - even though my current living situation doesn't allow me to actually host anyone, I want to give back to the community, so I'd be happy to show you around if you find yourself in Częstochowa or help you in any way I can if you need info or advice about Poland.

Interests

I love Irish dancing, well, actually Irish everything. Ireland's definitely on top of my bucket list and, silly as it may sound, I haven't been there yet, because although I often just 'go with the flow' I feel like this one trip must be planned perfectly.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is my hero. Not only can he talk about science in a way that everyone wants to listen, but he can be doing it while eating chicken wings with Mega Death super hot sauce.

I adore alpacas, they're the coolest animals on this planet.

I'm also interested in literary translation.

And, last but not least, Lonely Island, anyone? ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

Books - I like reading in general, but I'm in love with magical realism. And, as there are many books I appreciated, there are three that I can read over and over again and every time I find something new there - A Hundred Years of Solitude, Tuba and the Meaning of the Night and The Storyteller.

Movies & Series - Marvel in general, I'd say Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy were the best things that could've happened to the MCU; Star Wars; Friends; Intouchables; About Time; Holy Grail; Miranda; Narcos; The Color of Paradise

Music - good old jazz, Queen, Nick Cave, Doors, Amy Winehouse

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in Trieste and spontaneously decided to take a walk to Slovenia ('cause I'd never been there before) and so I took a friend of mine and we walked up from Muggia to Cerej. It's probably nothing actually amazing, but it did feel good. ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

Everything you've ever wanted to know about Iran but was afraid to ask. :P

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share some Polish recipes and show you some meatless (and still amazing) alternatives for dinner. I make awesome pierogi (Polish dumplings)!

And I can do your taxes. :P
