About Me

Coordinator at a training center for traindrivers and other railway staff in Belgium.

Currently preparing a (hopefully everlasting) sabbatical during which I intend to see the world. Not much of a fan of planning everything out in advance because I'd like the whole thing to be more inspired by the spur of the moment.

Anyways, interested in meeting people all over the world. For the sake of meeting people and seeing the world through other eyes than my own mostly.

Feel free to get in touch if you want to know more, want to hang out or show me around your town/city/whatever when I'm near you or offer me a place to spend the night.

Also, if you're visiting Hellgium, I'd be happy to show you around. Unfortunately not in the position to be able to offer you a place to sleep as I'm in a cohousing situation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because for me traveling is more about meeting people all over the world than it is about seeing sights,or visiting places.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Donna Tartt, Freud, Sartre, Jonathan Safran Foer, Jonathan Franzen, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett's Discworld, John Irving, George R.R. Martin, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, ...

I've also rather enjoyed Benjamin Kunkel's "Indecision", Dave Eggers' "The Circle", Julian Barnes' "Levels of life", loved Junot Diaz' "Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao", Amity Gaige's "Schroder" and just started (and finished) Murakami's wonderful "South of the border, west of the sun" today...

I should also mention Suzanne Collins' "the hunger games trilogy" (had a hard time concentrating) and the juliette society by former porn "star" Sasha Grey. Well, I have to admit, the latter writes as badly as she acts.

Movies: V for Vendetta, Lord of The Rings, Inception, Shutter Island, The Big Lebowski, Trance, The Expendables, The Crow, The Breakfast Club, Batman, se7en, American Beauty ... to name but a few. Ah, nearly forgot Parenthood (for obvious reasons). And of course old horror movies. Bela Lugosi was a genious and will always be undead of course, as Bauhaus sang in that magnificent song...

Shows: Dr. Who, Supernatural, Game of Thrones, Dexter, The Sopranos, Twin Peaks, The X-files (still in doubt wether all seasons after the second are worth mentioning), True Blood, Californication, Sherlock, ...

Music: Editors, Sisters of Mercy, New Order, Joy Division, White Lies, Depeche Mode, Conflict, Danzig, Florence And The Machine, Foo Fighters, Hooverphonic, Mazzy Star, Nouvelle Vague, Rammstein, The Cure, ... and lots more (like Austra, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Onslaught, *coughs* iron maiden */coughs* ...)

Food: everything. Haggis gets a special mention though.

Drinks: whisky, gin-tonic, red wine, coffee, water...

Furthermore boardgames, traveling, friends, ...
