Overview
About Me
Exploring the world and reflected in it the mind.
I was born and raised on a wildlife conservation and agriculture farm in Kenya. I schooled in Kenya, Japan and England before attending United World College of Southern Africa in Swaziland and then United World College Atlantic College in Wales. I studied the International Baccalaureate: Biology HL; Chemistry HL; Economics HL; Maths SL; English SL; Spanish SL - an overall 43/45. I read Biomedical Sciences Neuroscience at Edinburgh University and took a study year abroad in UC Berkeley where I found Ethnobotany and Shamanic medicine.
I lived in Peru for a year and left my heart and home in the Sacred Valley of Incas. I live and worked with Shamans and natural medicine. I have applied to University in Florida to study art. Art has been shown to move our emotions more than articles or scientific papers. I will go back to Peru when I'm not at uni and explore more of its beautiful Amazon rainforest. I hope to promote the importance of conservation of the rainforest - which we are cutting down 1 to 2 acres every minute. I hope to bridge the illusion of the perceived gap of efficacy between Shamanic medicine and "patent and pharmacy driven" western medicine and to make a photo-diary to put faces to issues around the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
One misses out on the essence of places in hotels and hostels as the essence of a place is found in the people. I hope to see the beauty of what I find and not seek what beauty should be there. I enjoy meeting people and the connections one makes. The world is a reflection and a teacher of thyself.
