About Me

Hello dear people :)
My name is Monika and I'm from beautiful country Croatia (Osijek).
If I have to describe myself in few words it will be: simple, helpful and honest.
I really like summer and sea, traveling and enjoying in nature, riding bike alone or with my friends. And I really looove coffee :)
I have master degree in Croatian language and literature and Philosophy.
Also, I was working as journalist and a have experience in hospitality. I use to work as volleyball referee and volleyball coach for kids (+I played volleyball for a long time). But the list of my previous jobs is quite long.
Right now I live in MARRATXI and before that I was living in Germany, Poland and Slovenia (part of Erasmus program). To be a part of Erasmus program is one of the best experiences that I ever had. I learned a lot of things about people, life and myself.

Also, big part of my life are my friends which I know since primary school. They are like second family for me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I made my profile on CS in 2015., but I didn't use it since Erasmus (2016.). During the Erasmus I have learned a lot of things and I realized how fun and interesting can be to meet new people from different cultures. I become more open person and now I'm ready to try things that I never tried before. I mean, life is to short and we should grab all opportunities that we have.

Interests

This is very hard question for me because area of my interests is sooo big :D. One thing that I'm always saying about myself is that I'm NEVER bored!
In short, I want to gather as much knowledge and skills as possible to understand myself and the world around me. And also, one day to convey this knowledge to my students and encourage them to do the same. The best way for that is to travel and to meet new people from different surroundings and life backgrounds. In that way we could be less judgmental and we could better accept the differences.

In the end, I want to progress in my job as much as I can and in that way I want to help to the society and to those who need it most.

Let your smile change the world, but don't let the world change your smile :D

Music, Movies, and Books

Hmm, I don't have any special favorite band (except Croatian band Majke), but I like to listen rock (blues rock), punk or reggae music, deep house... But mostly it depends on situation and my mood. I really like the sound of guitar, so sometimes I like to listen Estas Tonne. Or when I'm hyperactive I like to listen Maluma :P
My favorite movies are The Imitation Game and Freedom Writers. But in general I prefer documentary movies and movies that are based on true story. Also, I prefer to watch series like TBBT, Shameless and Narcos. One of my favorites are Friends, La casa de papel, New girl, That '70s Show, Weeds ...
Books :D also very hard question because I'm studying literature and philosophy so I read a lot. But let's say that my favorite book is Don Quijote and Robinson Crusoe :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For sure it was turbo fast trip around the Poland with Sanja. We decided to visit some cities in Poland with very little money and we took only one small backpack and start our adventure of lifetime :). We visited 8 cities in 6 days and it was around 1700 km. This experience was amazing, tI was super fun and we meet a lot of interesting people . We experienced a lot of new things, for e.g. sleeping on train station :D Also, during this trip we improved our orientation skills.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think that I can offer something from my knowledge and experience to every person no matter what kind of types is that persons.
I want to learn a lot of thing because I'm really curious and ambitious. For e.g. I want to improve my English and I want to learn Spanish ...

What I Can Share with Hosts

It depends on host and his wishes and interest. For sure I can make some delicious, but simple meals (I can make very good tomato soup). And also I don't have any problem to help with cleaning :D
I can tell something about my country or to learn her/him a bit of my language.
