About Me

I'm a poet, an amateur cook, an avid reader and writer, and most fundamentally someone who hopes to play his part in creating a more just world. My friends and family say I'm a laid back person who moves with the flow.

I've worked a lot of odd jobs (cook, landscaping, and education), gone to the university, and now I'm off to travel and see this wonderful planet that we all share.

MY PHILOSOPHY: Walk slow and drink lot's of water....(who am I quoting?)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd love to meet new people. Make new friends, if not for a short while.

I hope to bring my cooking and love of life wherever I go. I want to travel and get to know people in the most genuine way.

Interests

Writing, traveling, community work. When I return to the states I'm hoping to start a publishing house and community center with friends and loved ones.

I like discussing politics, life, everyday stuff. I like all forms of artistic expression, film, murals, etc. I also really appreciate learning about new cities and the history of places I'm at. I feel like the great mediators are politics and art, both tormenting and wonderful.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is everything, music is soul. I quote a great lyricist "If it don't touch my soul I can't listen to it." I wish I knew instruments, but my voice will do.
To be genre specific I suppose I can say that Jazz is high on the list, hip-hop, whatever genre Los Lobos falls into.

movies: I worked at a media library so I've seen my fair share of films. I really dig Chris Marker, Alain Resnais (especially Hiroshima Mon Amour), "Still Walking", "Monsoon Wedding", and "The Lunchbox" ... Oh and my favorite probably is Iñárritu's "Biutiful"- but generally I like and watch all types of movies, these are just some that come to mind.

Right now I'm reading Eduardo Galenano, Vijay Prashad, Arundhati Roy, Jean Baudrillard, Herbert Marcuse, Al Ginsberg, the list goes on....(thank you library genesis!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Worked on a horse ranch in Mexico for a few months- amazing experience

Teach, Learn, Share

If you'r into cooking I'd love to trade notes. I've had my head in books for 10 plus years and know the city I'm from and born like the back of my hand, day or night. So plenty of stories and interesting things to share.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A unique perspective on the world, and a good meal, and hopefully some great conversations.

Countries I’ve Visited

Colombia, Hungary, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Peru, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In
