About Me

Hey everyone,

I am a freshly graduated industrial engineer living in İstanbul. I was born and raised here, so I have a good idea about the past and culture of the city. I enjoy meeting new people, hosting travelers, showing them around and listening to their stories. Until recently, I did not have enough space to host anyone and my work load was crazy. So, I didn't get to host so many couchsurfers yet but now that i have the time and place, i am looking forward to get more involved:)

I love travelling, discovering new cultures & places but I don't quite like 'touristic activities'. I am not the kind of person who visits 5 museums/city and takes pictures in front of every historical monument. I prefer getting lost in streets, chatting with random locals, chilling in parks, shopping from local bazaars and listening to street musicians.

I am fond of literature, cinema & music and I love giving and receiving recommendations in those subjects. I like being outdoor and hiking. I enjoy the idea of camping and climbing but i am not really experienced in these areas. I also have interest in micro-economics, algorithm development, politics and philosophy, first two in a more academic sense, latter ones as hobbies.

I enjoy both the cozyness of home and the liveliness of streets. It depends on my mood. I enjoy inviting my friends over, cooking and spending the night by chatting or watching a movie. Nothing can make me happy as much as a good meal or a glass of good quality red wine:) I was not a party-goer until a few years ago but after living in Berlin for 6 months, I started to appreciate electronic music and a good party as well.

I occasionally smoke a little with alcohol etc. but i would not mind a 'no smoking house' at all. I pay utmost attention to follow the rules of the place that I am staying and I would love to spend some time getting to now my hosts but I am also quite ok with taking care of myself if you are too busy to socialize.

As a host, I would love to spend time with my guests but since I am working right now, I won't be able to offer much during day-time in week days. Yet, I'll be happy to guide you and give you advice on transportation, sightseeing, events etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I do want to become a part of this community of kind people who share with each other their houses, food, time and culture without prejudices or seeking self interest. Getting to know new places through the eyes and lives of locals definitely suits my idea of urban exploration. I would like to get out of the touristic bubble and experience the city as its locals do.

And also, I am not really rich, especially in countries with currencies for times more valuable than ours. I need to cut down on my expenses and, aside from every other perks of it, couchsurfing is a great way to achieve this.
