About Me

I might host if I receive a really genuine request, definitely a no for a copy and paste request.

The first thing you look at my profile picture, you would think that I am a Chinese, you're partially correct, because I am a Malaysian not a Chinese. So why I look so Chinese? That's because I am the third generation of Chinese immigrants that have settled down in Malaysia close to a century ago. I am ethnic Chinese, but a proud Malaysian.

Being brought up in a multicultural country is a unique experience, as well as a gift that i really appreciate. I get to learn 3 languages in school, mix with people of different races and religion backgrounds, we share our food and culture. That's why most travelers would agree that Malaysians are one of the nicest and welcoming people around the world.

The last thing that I would like to say about me is that I would like to see myself as an adventurous, curious, optimistic and non-judgemental person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Making local friends, understanding local customs and culture, and also get to look into the daily life of people all around the world would be one of the best part of travelling. That is one of the main reason why I signed up for couch-surfing. Besides, I hope through couch-surfing I could get travel tips and route guidance from the local on how to travel around the places I am travelling to.

I am a person that is always ready to try out new things, as long as there is no harm trying, I will go with it.

Interests

I basically show interest in almost everything, I believe knowledge empowers us to think and let us live a good life with the things we learn. I love learning and looking at new things with a beginner's heart, because inn the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s there are few.

If you really want me to list out what I am interested in, I believe the list will go eon and on, however I do enjoy a deep and meaningful conversation in any topics and also a nice coffee at a cozy place.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love listen to music according to different social settings and would listen to different kinds of music at different time of the day as well. However, I have a slight preference to indie, jazzy or ambient music.

I love movies that are philosophically intriguing and heart-moving. Movies that can urge you to ponder and to ask questions. Movies that show flaws and also hope in humanity. Movies that are meaningful yet entertaining.

When it comes to reading, I read more non-fiction than fiction book, since the former is more practical to me. I personally enjoy a good conversation over reading a book. However, once in a while, I do enjoy reading a good book. The books I read are mainly non-fictional and I started to pick up some fictional books and hopefully in the future I could list out my favourite books here.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hitch-hiked once with friends in a dark night up to Mt. Stromlo, Canberra, for start gazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you Bahasa Indonesia/Malaysia, Chinese as well as English.

I would love to learn basically everything you would like to tell me.

I can share my experience growing up in a multicultural country and you can ask me basically anything about my culture, history, country and so on. I can also share about my uni life in Australia, I may not give you the very local answer, but I have the first-hand experience after staying there for two years and can look tell you basically everything about this beautiful country.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will cook a nice meal to my host.I could also draw my host a portrait if I stay long enough (>=3 days), or else my host could send me a photo of her/him before I arrive, so I could draw in advance. :)
