About Me

Hi! I'm an 18 year old girl from Amsterdam/Amstelveen. I just finished high school and together with a friend I took a gap year. Starting from the 1st of December, we will leave to travel through Thailand, Cambodja, Vietnam, New Zealand and Australia. We are very enthusiastic and can't wait to meet new people here. We'd love to have the opportunity to go couchsurfing and make new friends all over the world. This is our first time doing this, hence the lack of experience (references) on our profile. I hope this won't get in our way and I hope you will be as enthusiastic to meet us as we are to meet you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It seems like a great way to meet interesting and fun people. Also, staying with locals is, as we think, an even better way to experience a country and its culture. And of course we can't afford to book ourselves hotels every night! :)

Interests

I enjoy going out into the city of Amsterdam with my friends or attending music festivals. I haven't travelled quite that much just yet, since I'm only 18 years old, but this past summer I have visited Mallorca, Turkey and Valencia, which were already great experiences to me. So travelling the world is already a great interest of mine. Also, I enjoy reading a good book every now and then.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy many genres of music, but if I'd had to name one I'd say reggae. However, I must say that I love techno parties and festivals as well.
When it comes to books I recently read 'What I Loved' from Siri Hustvedt, which I enjoyed very much. Also, I have to admit that I'm quite the Harry Potter fan... Have been since I've been able to read haha!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was about twelve years old, my parents took me and my brother and sisters to the United States. Among other things, we visited the Grand Canyon here. I remember how amazing I felt walking through those canyons. It is definitely something I will remember for the rest of my life, and also a place I will visit again one day.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always eager to learn!

What I Can Share with Hosts

For a potential host it might be interesting to know that I am a spontaneous person and that I enjoy meeting new people. Also, I really like to cook (even though I must admit I don't know that many recipes yet) and would love to cook you dinner or cook together. In addition I would just like to share good times with you. Maybe good to know as well: I hate bugs. They scare me for some irrational reason, and I know I will have to overcome my fears a little when travelling through Asia, New Zealand and Australia, but I will most likely never get over it completely.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Spain, Suriname, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States
