Hi, I'm Tony. I live in Leeds in the UK. I'm a voiceover artist, and have been training as an actor for a number of years.

Some of my training has taken me to Europe, and created a love of seeing other countries, meeting people from those countries, and learning more about the culture and history.

I love France in particular, and have been learning French steadily over several years. I can hold a conversation if it's very slow! - not expert. I've also just started learning Spanish - but an absolute beginner.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I often travel on my own, which I'm very comfortable with, but it's nice to meet people on my travels, and spend a few hours getting the inside track on a place or sharing time with others. Mostly, I will have already sorted accommodation, so will just be looking to meet up with people wherever I'm visiting, whether a local or someone else visiting too.

Interests

I started taking acting classes years ago, and some of my European trips originally were to attend classes. I'm a big fan of The Meisner Technique (an acting technique).

I developed my travel bug from 2015, which has has taken me to France around 9 times, (Strasbourg, Lyon, Perpignan, Montpellier, Beziers, Bordeaux). I've also visited Berlin, Lisbon, Malaga, Barcelona, Geneva, Brussels, Stuttgart, Copenhagen and Malmo.

I've worked in media (radio) for most of my career, and moved into voiceovers around 13 years ago, becoming full time in 2012.

I have long been interested in psychology, and in particular T.A. (Transactional Analysis) and a little bit of NLP.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like dance and electronic music, but also a broad spectrum of mainstream. I'm currently watching a lot of French music videos, so people like Big Flo et Oli, Soprano, Tal, Vianney, Gims etc.

My favourite films include: Shawshank Redemption, Die Hard, American History X, In The Name Of The Father. Although TV has been great in recent years so love things like The Fall, House Of Cards, The Bridge, Les Hommes De L'Ombre.

A lot of my reading is factual rather than fiction at the moment, and in particular acting books and anything related to The Meisner Technique.

I used to present travel news on radio every day from a plane.
