Hi! My name is Lisa, and I am from the Netherlands. I grew up in the south part and that's where I still live these days. I am studying Animal Husbandry and Care at HAS University and I am going to do a master study at Wageningen UR. My interests are sustainable agriculture and a sustainable world food supply. Right now I am focussing on plantscience (lupin! awesome crop), precision agriculture, animal health and animal behavior studies (cows, pigs and poultry).

I also have a vegan diet and lifestyle which means I don't eat any animal products and I also don't use any animal products as far as I can. People use to be a bit confused when they learn about this and know I am following an agro study, but I think it's important to be positive and work together to make the world a better place. I really like doing research and work together with farmers towards sustainable future without (this many) animals in the agrosystem.

Other hobbies and interests of mine are ofcourse travelling, sports (running, strenght, mountainbiking, wintersports, climbing), music (to listen, but also to play on clarinet, piano, guitar, bass, beginner at banjo, accordion and tiny bit of violin), being outside in nature, doing some hiking, geocaching (feel free to ask my username!) and photography, and ofcourse a lot of cooking and baking. I also really like to watch movies and series. Big fan of marvel, disney and pixar, star trek! I like old cars and a good cup of tea, and I love my pet rabbits and my old blue Opel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couchsurfing because I love travelling and meeting new people who have great stories and interesting languages! I have actually never 'couchsurfed' yet... Next year will be a good year of travelling since I'll finish one study and start the other a year (or a semester) later.

I visited so many nice places already, and I still want to see so much more. I have one experience with living abroad for some time and I am sure that wasn't the last time. For two months I lived in Reykjavik which was amazing. The reason I went there was because I went on an internship at Elding, a whale watching company in the old harbor. I did behavior studies on the whales in Faxafloí Bay which allowed me to be out on sea every day! It was great, and I want to go back. :-)

Scandinavia and Iceland have stolen my heart, I like the languages and the mindset of most nordic people.

I am very open for any new cultures and I am seriously interested in everything new that comes on my path. (is that right to say in English? because I feel like I simply translated a Dutch saying, haha...)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in Iceland for two months, having the great opportunity to be outside on sea everyday to do behavior studies on the whales and dolphins in Faxafloí Bay.

I can learn you Dutch, some basics of the French language as well. I also can teach you to play clarinet, piano and (bass)guitar and learn how to read sheet music.

Love to cook for people, also like to bake nice brownies or cake.
