About Me
Hi,
I'm Astrid. I live together with my best friend in Antwerp South since September 2015. Before that I used to live in a student flat for three years, so I didn't have the space to host people. But since I can, I really want to try it. My roommate and me both like travelling, so we'd like to welcome people in our house who are just like us and share stories.
My best friend is an architect, I'm a theater and film student doing my masters in the University of Antwerp. My roomie and me are really into music. He plays it, I listen to it and like the immersive atmosphere music creates at concerts or festivals. When we're at home, music is playing, mostly vinyl cause I'm and old soul. Since I study about art, art started working contagious. The more I confront myself with art, the more I get to love it. I weekly go to as many concerts, theater, performances, expositions, films, lectures as I can. I'm doing my masters in theater and film, and it's nice I can combine my work for school with my passion. I don't have to many classes this year, so if I'm at home, I'm probably reading or doing a movie marathon while cooking. I love cooking vegetarian and I'm learning to live vegan.
My roomie is my best friend, and a great architect. We like to create, in the widest way possible. Whether it is architecture, photograpy, writing poetry or playing theater, ... We're trying it all to find out which path we want to follow in the end. We're still young and still looking for our ways like everybody else. When we arrive home, we like to drink tea, have dinner together, and talk about whatever we want to talk about really, or we listen to music and just sit there, doing absolutely nothing. The kind of absolutely nothing that means absolutely everything at the end of the day, the thing I like most about coming home is that it's the place to calm down. I'm the busy, always-running-around-like-a-chicken-girl, he's the one with the zen attitude, a goa-minded bass guitar player. We're kinda the perfect combination to live together under one roof, keeping each other in balance. Complementing each other is the key to our living-together.
Apart from that I love animals, if I had a garden I would have had ten cats at least. I'm catsitting or dogsitting sometimes for money or for friends, cause I just need animals around me. I have some some smaller pets now.
People who are happy with a couch, and would give me a couch in return, can come for free!
Kind regards,
Astrid & Jolan
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'll start with some information about my place:
I live in a place where everything looks warm, except the frigde, the frigde is cold. I got my furniture from all different places, I love vintage and wood. Second hand shops are one of my favorite places to be, I like to give furniture a second life, paint can do miracles. And plants, I love plants too, they are what makes the house breath. It's a place where you can see people live in it, so we keep it clean but don't expect every corner to be dusted.
You got access to the living room, where you will sleep on the couch. The other rooms you'll have access to are: the kitchen, the bathroom, ... the balcony.
You can use my water boiler, my (primitive) coffee machine, my pots and pans, etc.
I have some pets and sometimes dogs/cats living at my place, if you don't like that, don't come to my place. They are really sweet, they don't smell and they won't keep you awake since they live in a seperate room. You can hug them as much as you want.
I live in Antwerp since four years now, and depending on how busy I am I'd love to guide you around in the city, take you to a place, go to a party together. If I don't have time, there'll be an English guide book that has a lot of information on the '500 hidden places of Antwerp', it's a book where even I still discover new adresses in.
We live very close to the city center & trams and busses are very near too.
Still we live in a quiet area, where you can enjoy art nouveau buildings, cosy bars, musea, parties, restaurants, etc. We're both very busy, friendly and social..so if you have a question about something in Antwerp, it's my fourth year here, so I think I have the answer ready for you.
Anything else? Just send me a message and I'll reply you as soon as I can.
Peace and love,
Astrid & Jolan
