About Me

My name is Juan Gabriel and according to some I seem to be one of a kind. I grew up in Bogotá, Colombia, and moved to Barcelona at age twenty. I did spend some time in France and in the USA during my teens, too. My dad is Catalan and my mum is Colombian and I have a large family across this beautiful world.

I guess my philosophy could be best described as follows—kindness and perseverance are the recipe for a fulfilling life.

I have traveled a good deal over the past few years and I’m currently on the point of concluding my degree in Translation Studies, but I’m considering entering the field of cognitive sciences in the future.

In regards to CS, I'm always ready to show people around and have a good time with my visitors. I have a healthy lifestyle in general. I like working out and usually eat healthy. However, I still love partying every once in a while and would indulge in a night of dancing Salsa and having a few drinks in the right company.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the idea of sharing and getting to know people from different places. It's a beautiful concept altogether.

Interests

Languages and psychology are probably my big hobbies. But I also enjoy writing and travelling,

Music, Movies, and Books

I have to admit that I have a soft spot for Russian literature, but I pretty much read a bit of everything, from articles on politics to stuff on mind and language acquisition. (By the way, Steven Pinker is my absolute hero of all times and places)

I usually listen to traditional music from different countries such as Klezmer and Balkan. But the list is long.
