About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am currently still a student at the North West University in South Africa, studying Language and literature. In my free-time I have traveled to as many places in the Southern part of Africa as possible. I quickly learned during my travels that the best way to experience a place is through its people, their culture and their passions. Thus, I am looking to broaden my horizons by visiting as many other countries around the world as time will allow.

Interests

I love to read, the more the merrier, and most things in life are worth reading about. Music is a love not to be underestimated regardless of genre, be it pop, jazz or opera. Culture, language and history naturally peek my interest as these are never far off. I enjoy visiting museums, eating strange foods such as crocodile and mopani worms, and exploring all that nature has to offer.

Music, Movies, and Books

The pride and the Prejudiced is an old classic that never disappoints, however, true to nature, I enjoyed Leap year just as much. My favourite song is as fickle as a specific time, place and mood. Since I tend to read whatever I can find - or in some cases gets left behind - there are a broad range of novels I quite admire in various languages, though some of the more memorable ones tend to be Mary Higgins Clark, Ted Decker or James Patterson. (Predictable isn't it?)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The obvious answer would be River rafting in the Zambezi. Although this may sound tame to most, it is considerably more astonishing when taking into consideration that I cannot swim.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a semi-decent cook - especially when it comes to traditional South African cuisine. Other than that, I love to learn and would as thus be eager to help out wherever possible and since I am trained in first aid, I make a fair babysitter. Knowledge however would be my greatest asset, as I am well versed in various topics from politics to history and biology.
