About Me

Hello hello!!!! My name is Montse, and I´m a 22-year-old citizen of the world! I was born and raised in Tampico Beach and later on moved to Aguascalientes, Mexico to finish High School and college. Last year I moved to New York to work with an NGO and the United Nations in the Commission on the Status of Women. Went back to Mexico for a semester and now I´m currently in an International College Program in Lyon, France. I´ll be staying here for the whole summer to travel around (whoop whoop).

What I love the most about traveling, is meeting new people and learning from their life story. It really amazes me how every single person in this world is as unique as only humans can be. :) By traveling you also get to adapt to different environments and learn from different cultures, traditions, tastes, and languages! It can sometimes be challenging AND also fun!

Ps- I´m a Gryffindor!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I first heard about Couchsurfing I was totally amazed by this brilliant idea. When I was little I always wanted to have people from all over the world stay at my house because I wanted to see how people were in different countries, how they looked, what cool stuff did they save in their backpacks. Now that I´m older, I want to make those thoughts come true! Both hosting when I´m back in Mexico and getting to know people from all over the world with their amazing stories, that´s why I´m here.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: The Lumineers, Claire Crosby, Hans Zimmer, Michael Giacchino, Tchaikovsky, Ed Sheeran, Angelica Hale, Courtney Hadwin, The Beatles, Jackson 5,

Movies/Shows: (ALL Disney Movies), Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, Reign (currently addicted), Sex Education (taboo-breaking!) , Atypical (so important), The Good Place (great for a nice time), The Ellen Show (best choice anytime).

Books: Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls, Harry Potter Series (duh! ;) ), He Named Me Malala, The Danish Girl, The Alchemist,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the coolest things that have happened to me is meeting my inspiration and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Malala Yousafzai! I had a beautiful encounter with her when she visited Mexico and she motivated me to continue working on the projects I was doing.

I have been working with the Global Goals from the United Nations for almost 4 years now, advocating for Women´s and Girls´ Rights and it has changed my life completely, besides having the opportunity to meet so many trailblazers in different areas.

I founded an NGO: We Stand For Change SDG to help achieve the UN´s SDGs and it gives me a lot of hope that one day we will save the planet and humanity as long as every one of us starts getting involved.

Super Random thing: I once auditioned for a new show on Disney Channel (without expecting a call back because I can´t sing, not even in the shower) and I DID get a call back 2 months later. I couldn´t believe it. The whole in-person casting experience was very fun, very enriching, but definitely not my thing at that moment in my life. Singing in front of 7 people expecting a perfect Miley Cyrus or Demi Lovato pitch, was a no-no for me. LOL.

Teach, Learn, Share

I just LOVE learning... from anything to everything! Languages, skills, places, cultures.
I truly enjoy listening to life stories and would be more than glad to listen to yours! Do you like cooking? We can cook together. Practice Yoga? Why not! Do you have dogs? We can take them for walks. You can teach me your language and I´ll teach you from the ones I know: Spanish, English, French, & German!

What I Can Share with Hosts

From my adventures around the world and traveling as a student to my experience working in with the United Nations and Youth leadership. I like long lasting relationships, so if we get to be friends... you´ll have a friend for life!

I use essential oils to keep me healthy so I´d be more than glad to share how I use them for physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental health.

Ps- I always bring Mexican goodies with me! :)
