Overview
About Me
I'm a laid-back and social ENFP. I want to do everything but I know that time is running short. I love the beauty and complexity that I see in the world around me-- in mountains, in oceans, in culture, and in people-- and I'm excited to explore and learn as much as I can. I was lucky enough to study in Egypt and travel around the Middle East while in college and that amazing experience (right before the Arab Spring) coupled with a few years living overseas in Turkey really shaped how I think about life. I love any opportunity to build relationships with others and learn about what makes them unique.
I'm a fairly new transplant to the East Coast and am currently teaching in a local school by day and working at a popular restaurant by night. I'm loving the opportunity to explore New England and try to incorporate adventure into my life every day!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting new people people and I love the authenticity of meeting new and friendly people while traveling! My current goal is to meet other open-minded individuals while traveling around the eastern U.S. and Canada.
Interests
Cooking (Especially trying out new recipes and different cuisines!), Wine, Beer, Chocolate, Reading, Foreign Films, Yoga, Adventures, Spontaneity, Travel, Learning Languages, Anything Outdoors (Skiing, Hiking, Camping, Swimming)...just to name a few :)
I'm a super curious individual and love most things I try so this list is far from exhaustive. I'm down to try almost anything though and love finding new hobbies and interests!
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I play fiddle, banjo, piano, and I love to sing! I'm open to most genres, but I especially enjoy music that is innovative and relaxing. Some of my favorite bands are Brandi Carlile, Crooked Still, Uncle Earl, Della Mae, and Bastille. I love lyrics that tell a story and secretly sing Broadway musicals at the top of my lungs while I clean my house.
Movies: I don't always keep up to date on my media consumption but I enjoy watching movies with friends and have gravitated more towards television comedies (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Office, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, etc.) in the last year. I also like thought-provoking films with suspense and interpersonal drama as well as foreign films.
Books: I love to read! My favorite authors are Neil Gaimon, Margret Atwood, Shahrnush Parsipur, Salman Rushdie, Arundahti Roy, David Mitchell, Elif Safak, and Dostoyevsky. I love short stories and young adult fiction.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Floated in the Dead Sea, driven across Canada, met some amazing people, looked out across cloud tops from a high mountain-- it's all about the attitude and I've had some great opportunities!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm all about sharing experiences, a bottle of wine, and/or a good healthy meal. If given the opportunity, I would love to share, learn, or teach a foreign language, tradition, or different outlook on life. If so inclined, I would love sharing an outdoor adventure, tour of a town (yours or mine), or playing some music together. I enjoy discussions and am willing to learn and share about almost anything!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share a good smile, a sense of adventure, some fun music, a bottle of wine, and some enjoyable time together :)
