About Me

Oh hey there! I am just another pile of carbon and water with the name Jan. I asked some people to describe me prior to writing this,so I'll just list the adjectives that I recieved. They described me as funny,smart,caring,well-mannered,a leader-type,open minded and short (?). My negatives would have to be that I am stubborn at times, that I am too honest for some people and that I am pretty lazy (Sleeping in thill 5 pm is one of hobbies).
But you can form your own opinion once we meet :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I got introduced to CS by a friend. He always invited me over whenever he hosted people. Talking to them is what caught my interest. But my desire to be on CS was solidified by a man named Tomislav Perkow, who I am going to talk about later on.
And I think that CS is a good opportunity not only to save some money, but to meet interesting people who I wouldn't have met otherwise.

Interests

I am really interested in a lot of stuff. Chemistry,psychology,history,philosophy,acting,poetry,street-art,and music to name a "few". I love to read up on different philosophies, and trying to adopt their teachings into my day to day life.
I also enjoy writing poetry, even though I rarely finish up my poems. My favourite activities have to be acting and improvisation though. I just find extreme pleasure in assuming another role, ideally someone who is radically different than me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a lot of music in my free time. Its been considered "weird" by others but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I listen to music from a lot of genres. I mostly enjoy Math- and Postrock,by bands like This Town Needs Guns,22,Mogwai,Chon,God is an Astronaut or Godspeed You!Black Emperor. I enjoy almost everything that has a relaxed vibe, like Jazz, some Hip-Hop, some EDM. My favourite musical act is Oh Wonder though. Check them out. Seriously.

I don't watch too many movies for no apperant reason. Most of recent movie histroy simply went over my head. My favourites are Fight Club, American History X, Primal Fear (I may or may not have a thing for Edward Norton), Pulp Fiction and A Clockwork Orange though.

My absolutely favourite book is "1000 Days of Spring". It has really influenced me and helped form my personality. Its about how the author,Tomislav Perkow, hitchiked and couchsurfed around the world and grew as a person. I talked to him at a TEDx event, and he really impressed me by what he did.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

To be honest,I haven't done anything too impressive in my life yet, but I seek to change that of course. I guess the only thing that can be considered "impressive" or "amazing" is that I manage to sleep a lot and still be tired.

Teach, Learn, Share

Im not too sure what to write in this section, so I'll just try to think of something that may or may not fit. I would love to learn to motivate myself more. I often feel like things are a chore, even though they aren't. This is something I feel I really need to work on. Other than that, I could probably teach someone to be less worried about miniscule things. Not too sure about that though.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've been called a good conversation partner too,so I've got that going for me. I am willing to do some housework at your place, like washing the dishes or something in exchange for your hospitality. I could also try to write you a really cheesy poem just for you if you're into that :D
