I was born in a small island in the middle of the Atlantic, probably the best place on earth to be born and raised in, the Canary Islands.

From the beginning I was what in my island we call a "culo inquieto" which literally translates to restless ass…..

This has always been part of me. I love to try different things, have a go at new sports, meet new people. I love couch surfing as it lets me do this all over the world.

I especially love to play and watch sports. I have been ‘a bit’ obsessed with swimming since I was 10 years old. I can give you a lesson if you need!

I love to read, everything from mainstream books like Harry Potter to random black novels nobody should ever open :)

Because of my restless ass personality, I love to travel and have new experiences. When I moved 2000km away to study Biomedical Engineering, my family was not surprised. Not even when I told them that I would move to the United States to work on a summer camp for a summer. I consider that summer the best of my life and part of the reason of who I am today.

Right after that, I decided to move even further away to Sweden (the Swedes run to the Canary Islands and I came here to "enjoy" winter) to do my Master´s in Bioentrepreneurship at Karolinska Institutet. You might recognise the school name, they decided the Nobel Prize winner in Medicine and Physiology every year.

I am in the US for iGEM Stockholm (the Stockholm team for the biggest synthetic biology competition in the world)

What will come next, is yet to be discovered.

I´m in the US on a road trip of a life time! Looking to meet local people in every state I go to :)

I enjoy traveling the world and sharing experiences with the locals. I believe that the best way of growing as a person is by sharing experiences with people with different backgrounds, that may or may not have the same beliefs as me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really enjoy reading, I am still obsessed with the Harry Potter world, I really enjoy reading science fiction and some of my absolute favourite books are mystery or thrillers, like The eight by Katherine Neville.
I really enjoy different types of music, I prefer listening to Aerosmith or Elton John, than the nowadays music but I love Adele and Ed Sheeran.
In terms of movies, I also enjoy science fiction and thrillers, some of my favourite movies are Gattaca, Inception, Interstellar and Minority report. I am a big Marvel fan and I have gone to the movies for every movie inside the Marvel Universe.
For TV shows, I love comedies, like New Girl, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Friends, How I met your mother, Big bang theory or Modern family. Although I also watch science fiction and dramas, like Stranger Things or Riverdale.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This may be the most random story ever, but I learnt how to ride a bike one and a half years ago, at age 22. My parents were quite old when I was born and my sisters were on their teenage years, so nobody really had time to help poor little Sonia learn. Last year, my best friend grabbed a bike and in 2.30 hours I was already riding a bike on my own.

If I had to tell about something really incredible I have done it would be traveling to Kiruna, in the North of Sweden for 5 days to see the Northern Lights. I had the most incredible time in Kiruna. I was able to enter the ice hotel, to ride a car over a frozen lake, to go dog sledding and to see the most beautiful sky in the planet (tied, with the sky in Tenerife, where you can see so many stars).
