About Me

Born and raised in Malaysia - a country where there are 3 main races, the Malays, Chinese and Indians. I'm a Chinese ( just in case you haven't figure it out yet hahaha). This mixture of races opened my mind up and I mixed well with anyone regardless of gender and race! (Think I might blend well with Aliens as well hahaha...). Anyway, here's a list of words I think best describe myself...

-Positive
-Optimistic
-Sporting
-Open-minded
-Happy-go-lucky
-Carefree
-Family and friend oriented at the same time
-Talk a lot
-Love meeting new people
-Love to travel
-Funny
-Likes to smile and laugh :D
-Organised
-Out-going
-Easy-Going
-Clean & Tidy

PHILOSOPHY
-There will be good sunny days and bad rainy days. No matter what day it is, keep your smile up, laugh on your own silliness and tomorrow will be a new beginning!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My friend introduced me to CS during my stay in the UK. I was interested because I think this is a wonderful platform for me to meet locals at the place where I am visiting - especially when I am traveling during my Easter and Summer break.

However, it didn't start well for me at all. I got so many rejections when I just started using CS. Reason could be insufficient photos, no reference and maybe my profile look less appealing? I got no idea. I was really close to give up on CS and think that this will never work for me.

Yet, ONE DAY before I left to London during one of the weekend to visit, I got an offer from a host (his name is Rob - see reference). He offered me a place to stay even though I didn't request from him (he saw my post in a public group). I was amazed by it and my faith on CS reignites from that moment on. Although I ended up didn't stay at his place because I could not get a refund for my accommodation, I did ask him out to meet up because I really want to meet a local. We did and the experience is awesome!

Eventually, I give CS another go. To my surprise, I had superb and amazing experience with all my hosts!

25th of March 2016: Pascal - Paris
31st of March 2016: Alex - Madrid
6th of April 2016: Rob! - London

There are more others that I met in the community other than these people who hosted me. I'm really glad I join the "hood" haha.

Thank you so much my dear hosts for all these priceless memories that I will treasure until the end of days. A big hug :')

Besides, I'm trying to do a favor for the community now by giving it back so I started hosting. Hopefully, I'll meet more awesome people like these :D

Interests

1) Traveling
-Traveling is way more than just sightseeing. It is a WHOLE PACKAGE which includes meeting people, understanding culture, getting to know the history, economics and political situation of a country and literally ANYTHING else! It is a big package you know!

2) Music
-I listen to music all the time (unless when I am having a conversation with others). I dislike loud party music as I think it is too noisy but I rather prefer relaxing music which has a good meaning behind its lyric - yes sometimes I get picky in music but when I am into it, it will never fall out of my music library.

3) Meeting people
-I am that kind of guy where usually the loudest in a group. I often take the initiative to start a conversation to make it less awkward. I really enjoy having conversation from jokes and banter to some real deep conversation. I would talk about anything (as long as you're ok with it) with people I meet - and I liked it. I would do it as a job if I get paid for it hahahaha

4) Football
-Just in case if you haven't find out yet from my gallery, I am a huge fan of Chelsea FC. I started watch them play since I was 10. I had a dream that one day I will go to London and watch them play a live game there (London is 10,000km from the place I come from. Literally the other side of the globe). My passion for football is pretty unbelievable and I have been through a lot of ups and down with the club I support. I can go on to talk about football all day long if you're a fan as well.
-As for playing the sport, I usually play 5-a-side football once or twice a week.

5) Comedy
I am a huge fan of comedy as well. Any form of comedy. I think comedy is an art, which is highly underrated. The fact that you could make somebody laugh their ass off through an act just amazed me.
Recently I am into stand-up comedy especially by Louis CK and Russell Peters. Their show further opened my mind not only because how they perform their act but also how jokes can actually be made in a way that it SHOULD NOT offend anyone. Stop being too sensitive and start embracing a happy and funny attitude in life :D

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Like I said, I like slow, relaxing music with good meaning behind it - optimistic, positive and inspiring music are great. An example would be songs by Jason Mraz. Give this man a guitar and listen to him singing with your eyes closed will lead you to heaven

Me and a few friends of mine formed a small band back in Malaysia. Occasionally we jammed and most of our songs are from an Irish Band called The Script - which make us all The Script's Fan. I did attend their concert back in Malaysia :)

Books:
I read a few self-help book about motivation and one of my favorite author is Nick Vujicic - the man without arms and limbs. It always amazed me how optimistic this guy can be even being born physically disabled.
Besides, I also read some entrepreneurship books. I am planning to start up a business of my own after getting my degree.

Movies:
1) Superheroes series like all Marvel movies, Dark Knight trilogy
2) Sci-fi movies like Inception and Interstellar
3) Pirates of the Caribbean (because it is AWESOME!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1) I have been to London to watch my favorite football club play a game. The atmosphere is much more better than what you imagine when I got one of the best seat in the stadium. I nearly lost my voice chanting for 90 minutes!

2) Started saving and traveling around with my own money at 21 :)

3) Meeting awesome awesome people in CS from all over the world when I was a surfer. And now that I'm hosting, I hope to meet more of these people :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Language
I speak fluent Malay, English, Mandarin and Cantonese(these are both common Chinese language). I wouldn't mind teaching to anyone who is interested to learn.

Food
I grow up in Malaysia and my family runs a food business in Malaysia. Malaysia cuisine is a very cool fusion of Malay, Chinese and Indian's food. I can assure you that you cannot get it else where. Some of my friend that visited the country said that visiting Malaysia is like visiting multiple countries in Asia.

Economics Knowledge
I am a economics major in university. The reason I pick this course is because it provide me an alternate perspective in viewing a matter. It provides me a different view on the world that we are living in. I am happy to share any economics information you would want to know.

Culture
I will be more than happy if anyone would like to know more of the Malaysian culture, history, politics, economics and anything else that I know

Being a listener
I can talk all day long but I can also be a very good listeners and provide a piece of advice if you need.
