About Me

I am a financial engineering student that currently is in an exchange program in Angers, France. I try to think of myself as a seeker of knowledge; I really enjoy to come across new ideas and perspectives. Nonetheless, public relations are not my strong quality. In many situations I might present introvert behavior (something I must get over). You might think of me as a nerd, but I rather avoid classifying people. Everybody must have the opportunity to make themselves someone new.

I have limited space for hosting due to my actual status as an exchange student.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To live this experience. Open doors that go both ways. To build bridges. To know and to let be known.

Interests

Everything that can blow my mind. Currently, I find particularly interesting exploring the idea of the nature of reality (as in quantum mechanics), the future of humanity (existencial risks), god, transhumanism, the implications of biotechnology and nanotechnology, etc.

I enjoy engaging in deep philosophical conversations, but also find quite interesting talking about economy. Science, technology, quantitative finance and anything that has to do with mathematics and statistics are also a hot topic for me.

I am passionate (and still learning the technical aspects) about the concept of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Apart form intelectual pursues, I like playing guitar, mountain biking, casually drink beer, laugh and have a good time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The things I consider "amazing" might not be view as so by many. In fact, as I grow up these "things" I have done are constantly being replaced and / or enhanced.

At the moment, one amazing thing I've done is to relate some concepts of the theory of information with economic theory and financial simulation. I developed an algorithm that analyses the statistical properties of the empirical data of a financial asset and performs a non-parametric simulation. Moreover, this algorithm analyses the structure of a text (as in the bible, for example) and is capable of making compatible the statistical simulation of the asset with the categorical frequency analysis of the words in the text. As a result, the simulation of the financial asset is written in "natural language".

All this was inspired by some methodologies used by AI and some "regularities" in the natural language. Really interesting and fun!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Some good conversations. Maybe a different perspective concerning specific topics. Hopefully a good time.
