About Me
Originally from Australia, my husband and I have been expats in London for the last 5 years, and we have recently packed up all our stuff and are headed back home....the long way.
Taking a year off, we decided to travel overland back the whole way to Australia, across Europe, through the Balkans, to Turkey & Georgia where we then jumped on the Trans-Mongolian across Russia and Mongolia. We've spent around a month in every country so far, including China, Nepal, India, Myanmar and Thailand, after which we will work our way down through South East Asia all the way home.
If you're interested in finding our more about our journey, check out our blog (www.onewaytickettonepal.com) where we try in vain to keep up to date with our adventures. We love taking photos and making short films, so there is plenty of entertainment up there :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Along the way we have met so many people raving about Couchsurfing, and the highlighst its added to their trips, so we are keen to join in! We are looking for something new in our travells, and look forward to the idea of meeting locals in new cities to give us some tips on things we might otherwise miss...and we always love meeting new people along the way.
Interests
Obviously at the moment travel takes up most of out time, but we like to keep ourselves busy with a never-ending stream of photos and videos which are all up on our website www.onewaytickettonepal.com
We're happiest when we are out and about in Nature, and are always seeking out the natural beauties in this world.. We've been trekking in the Himalayas in Nepal, rock climbing in the beautiful karst peaks of China, snorkelling around the blue waters of Ko Pha Ngang in Thailand and soaking up the endless spaces of Mongolia along the way.
Both being from Design backgrounds (I'm a Landscape Architect and Pete is a Visual Designer), we always have a few little projects going on and love sitting around in trendy cafes across Europe, always on the hunt for the best flat white and perfect cheese cake to go with it.

Music, Movies, and Books
Living in London made us appreciate having so much musical variety at our doorsteps, and we would frequently be checking out everything from small intimate acoustic gigs to thumping drum & bass nights that end at 6am (or beyond!)
We love having music around us..so much so that we decided making space in our packs for a 1kg speaker was totally worth while.
We're always on the lookout for interesting new reads to keep us on the move while we are travelling, we're created a whole list on our blog of what's been keepig us entertained. So far on this trip, highlights have been the Game of Thrones series (juicy entertainment), Infinite Jest (you need plenty of time to devote to this one!) The Lady and the Peacock (biography of Aung San Suu Kyi and an amazing insight into the trials of Myanmar) and Genius (an inspirational read about one of the worlds lesser known Genius's.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Our current journey is probably going to be a highlight for the rest of our lives. Happy to sit and chat your ear off it if you've got the the time ;)
