About Me

33 yo who works in retail sales based in Brooklyn, New York. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri and I've lived in NYC for a bit over four years. Used coachsurfer a couple times and I was recommended by a friend who travels the world often. For the most part I usually travel for leisure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm coachsurfing because I don't like being around tourists as much as getting to know people who are part of the community. I come from the midwest and we're all about hospital, so staying with friends is part of the experience of getting to really know the culture of a place.

Interests

Food, music, laughter, traveling, activism... singing (karaoke).

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to everything... people say that but don't really mean it. Jazz, R&B, classical, soft rock, alternative, pop, latin... I'm open-minded when it comes to music but loyal to most artist. I see a movie once a month (The Force Awarkens 3x) and I own quite a few books which makes it difficult to read them all but currently working on Things Fall Apart, Purple Hibiscus and the autobiography of James Baldwin. The Alchemist is my favorite book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked for Amnesty International (human rights organization) as a fellow for six months, the reason I moved to NYC from St. Louis. Quite an experience being involved with one of the biggest orgs in the world. I open about how I got involved with activism though many are turned off by it but I was involved in Ferguson, documenting through social media what was happening in August 2014 up until Jan '05 when I moved to NYC but I'm still remotely involved.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm open to cultures and traditions, always willing to adapt to my surroundings.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm pretty neat when it comes to being a guest, I clean up after myself but I also don't make much of a mess. Great listener and great company.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Canada, Mexico, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
