About Me
Hi!
I'm Anke and I'm a normal girl of 22. Not much to say about me, just that I'm really passionate in everything that I like to do. I'm friendly and I don't judge. I'm looking for the positive things in life and give everyone a chance to be themselves and to explain that. I know that is an odd thing to say, but in these times there is a lot of judgement, prejudgement and intolerance coming from everyone. I don't want to belong to that group and that is one of the reasons why I travel. I love to know why people do what they're doing, say what they're saying and believe what they're believing. So, if you're a transvestite who works in Vegas or a farmer from China, it doesn't mind, I would like to hear your story!
My ultimate goal is to have a blog where I can tell the story of countries and their food and fashion. Because I don't have a lot of money (poor student), I have to choose, for the moment, between buying fashion or a plane ticket. Fashion I have, a lot of it, so this time I choose travel.
I would love someday buy real vintage pieces from all over the world and make my closet really interesting.
So in short: food, (open) people and clothes
At this moment, I live in Belgium in the countryside with my boyfriend. I'm a bit afraid to leave him behind in Belgium, but I locked him up in the house, so I think it will be fine (just kidding). But serious: I'm not here to meet men, so don't even try with me. I have one already at home and I have enough work with him as it is :)
I will stop here because I don't know what to say further :) (you can notice that, because now I'm just typing random stupid stuff)
To be continued...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My theory is that you get to know a country by it's food, people and history. When you stay with locals you already have a really good start of discovering those three pillars. Normally you can see the true face of the country, just because you talk to just 'ordinary' people, the hosts, and not with a receptionist of a hotel. And that is why everyone should do it, period.

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't read except for the Harry Potter novels. On the movie front I am always available for a good thriller-action movie, but my favourite for the moment is The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I listen to Mumfords and Sons, Imagine Dragons, Ed Sheeran, Amy Winehouse, Foster the People, Bruce Springsteen... I like male singers, the women... not so much :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Saying YES to everything what I like to do and stop listening to everyone else :) (OW, and I moved to England all by myself, that was pretty intense too)
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm definitely on the learning team. I'm not a shy person but I can't/won't teach or share to much, just because I don't have the knowledge or life experience for it. On the other hand, I would love the learn all about the world, because for me, it is a big schoolbook and I'm planning to suck every piece of information out of it. Even if it is just personal stories from my hosts.
Let's just say I'm a black hole of information.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My cooking skills! I'm a true Burgundian and food is for me a very important part of life. I would love to cook for the friendly people who give me shelter.
And apparently I can also clean very good (ask my mom), so if I'm around during spring cleaning, I would love to give you a hand.
