Overview
About Me
I’m Maria Eduarda, I’m brazilian and I love living in different countries, travelling, metting new people, learning new languages and experience different cultures.
I’ve lived in Ireland, Spain, Italy and It’s been almost 3 years that I’ve been living in Lisbon, Portugal.
I graduated law school but I never wanted to work with law, I’ve worked in hostels in Portugal, Spain and Italy. Volunteered at spiritual communities in Italy.
Writing is my passion. Good music too.
I do yoga, meditation and rituals, sister circles, sharing circles in general, such as other ancestral practices. I believe in their power. And I would enjoy to tal about it or even practice together.
It’s been 6 years that I’m vegetarian. Wannabe vegan. I love pastries and bakery too much to give up butter and milk as ingredients although I don’t buy, cook or eat dairy at home. And if I have good vegan sweets I would choose it.
I have zero problems with non vegetarians.
I think we should all feel free to make our own choices. But I appreciate when people are open and non judgmental about both choices.
I love food and cooking! Food makes me happy. Chocolate and sweets in general too. They never disappoint. I make jokes and I’m sarcastic most of time. :)
I love travellers, seekers... I believe they are the most amazing, surprising door to the unknown and I love the unknown.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love traveling and meeting new people. I’m the type of person that prefers to travel to less cities and stay longer and really observe and absorve the culture, sit at a cafe and just watch people walking, listen their language, accent, it's one of my fav passtimes. And I love to show te cities I live to other people. I even did walking tours for some time. I think to get to know a city with a local is an honor and much more fun. You get to know the real thing and, best case scenario, also make a friend.
Interests
To travel is my passion! My freedom and my time are my most precious things! I value a lot to be able to make my own choices without depending on anyone and without hurting anyone else's expectations.
I love eating, traveling, yoga, meditating, writing.
I’m not a clubbing type, I’m more a bar, pub type of person.
Picnics on the park! And beach!!! Camping!
Swimming (naked if possible) in the sea and river and lying in the sun warms my heart and soul.
I’m a wine and beer type of gal.
Tea and coffee (decaf at the moment).

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: it’s hard because I can appreciate different genres. I can equally enjoy Frank Sinatra and Bob Marley., The Kooks, Arctic Monkeys, Tame Impala, Mac Demarco. 80's balads. Shamanic music!
But as a brazilian I will say that Caetano Veloso is a favorite. Gal Costa, Maria Bethania, Chico Buarque, Vinicius de Morais, Baden Powell (...)
Movies: Inglorious Bastards is a favorite, Death Proof, I like Tarantino’s work. Woody Allen. The “before” movies (Before sunrise, before sunset, before midnight).
The favorite book is definitely The unbearable lightness of the being.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While traveling we always have opportunities to do amazing, unforgettable things. But if I had to choose I would say I'd pick seeing Mountain Etna (the highest active volcano in Europe) erupting and be so near to it, and hiking it. Seeing a volcano erupting was quite emotional.
And, of course, the Camino de Santiago on my own in the winter. I challenged myself physically, mentally and emotionally like I’ve never before.
I highly recommend!!!
Teach, Learn, Share
I’m quite an open person and I can teach wherever I know, languages or skills.
I love languages, I can always teach and learn. I want to learn french, which I’m working on it.
I’m always open to share personal experiences and listen to others! I’ve been called a story teller because I overshare and always with all the details needed. I love details and I'm shameless. And I’m always curious to get to know and understand more about the human being and relations.
As a feminist activist I would be open to share a bit about my experiences and thoughts in this aspect.
