I'm a 20-year-old French student who deeply wants to discover new cultures and share experiences. I am very fond of music: I used to play the violin and the saxophone, but during my studies I had not enough time to practise... I will certainly start again as soon as I can!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We're going to do an Interrail trip. We would love to meet local people to share experiences and to discover nice cities with their point of view. Furthermore we are willing to escape from the industrial tourism, that's why the couchsurfing system attracts us.

((It comes from a necessity: we need a place to sleep while we travel in Europe. Nevertheless, we thought it would be much more interesting to benefit from the hospitality of local people. That is why we have chosen to log in! Thanks to this trip, we'll be able to meet new people from different countries and cultures))

Interests

Rafy : I love sport ( running, playing tennis, riding bikes are some of my hobbies ). I also enjoy science in general. Moreover I love travelling abroad and be disoriented by what I see.

Jean : I'm interested in social evolutions, and particularly in vulgarizating videos of philosophy, sociology, science etc. I like to do sport ( I played water-polo younger, and football this year ), and nice small parties with good friends. But far above all, I prefer to stay with friends, speaking, playing, or doing whatever you want.

François-Marie:
Well of course I'm fond of science since it is my field of study! I find it really fascinating to explain why every thing is the way it is.
I like chilling with my friend and talk about anything around a cold beer.
This trip is a way to achieve another interest: discover. I've spend most of my time in my "comfort zone" and I want to change that and to face reality!

Music, Movies, and Books

Rafy : I love all kind of music, especially the ones from Worakles and Ratatat. I love funny movies, like OSS 117, but I also enjoy action movies like the Dark Knight trilogy from Christopher Nolan. I am keen on investigation books, for instance "Mort sur le Nil" from Agatha Christie.

Jean : I like most musical genres : chanson, classical, film music, jazz, rock, world music, electronic and more. I like movies with a minimum of deepness. I read a few Harlan Coben's and David Gemmel's books for instance, and also BD novels.

François-Marie:
I like all kinds of music: from classic music (Bach cello suite n1) to dubstep (bassnectar (especially Divergent Spectrum)) and what can be called "popular music" the one you can hear on the radio (josef Salvat, Open season)

In books, I really enjoy fantasy or -i don't how to say it in English- stories that happen in rather non real places (Harry Potter of course, the Lord of the Rings). I also like French literature (Balzac, Zola for instance) but I'm not fond of anime.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jean : I used to smoke a lot for 4 years, and I have given up !

François-Marie:
I used to swim for my school when I was 17. With 3 friends, we finished 2nd at a national competition, it was quite an accomplishment for us!

Rafy : I am keen on playing basque pelote, and with my teammate we went to the semi final of the french championship ! and I ran a semi marathon by the way.

Teach, Learn, Share

François-Marie:
I guess it refers to a way of life I deeply enjoy. I see life as a course, where you should learn as many things as you can in the meat numerous fields possible. I would love to share my love of physics with anyone who is interested, and I could teach our hosts how to make French crepes (delicious believe me!)

What I Can Share with Hosts

François-Marie:
As I said, I could teach our hosts how to make French crepes, We can share French culture and our hosts could benefit from our scientific background! Most of all we would be honoured to be welcome in someone's home, it would mean a lot to us.
