Hello!

I am Başak Demirkol from Turkey. I am a planning engineer at the moment. I studied Industrial Engineering, I was an exchange student in Zwickau, Germany.

I am mostly very easy going and positive. I look everything as an experience and experiencing new things fullfills me. Lastly, i am definitely trying to be wiser and to reach a deeper level of inner peace as the time passes by.

I can describe myself as a free spirit and travelling is a MUST for my soul.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think when you stay with a host, everything about your trip becomes much more valuable and you can way much better learn about the city and the lifestyle. From then on, it is not just a place that you've been, it is kind of your second home-city that you now have a piece from there and will always remember.
Also meeting with new people when i am travelling is one of my favorite things cause people are what make places beautiful. Couchsurfing makes it possible to connect truely with the places.
Unfortunately i can not host anyone right now because of my lifestyle in my current city (during the season, my ice hockey life makes it impossible for me to stay home for long) but hopefully i will be able to do after some changes.

Interests

I am playing ice hockey for 13 years and I am a national ice hockey player since 2011, for Turkey.
I love travelling! I also like juggling (poi), dancing, interested in chess and talking about philosophy, always interested in different kinds of sports and i watch a lot of movies! I also love to listen to music from other countries and cultures. I mostly interested in electro/techno music for a long while.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can not summarize what kind of music i like but let me give some examples:
Parov Stelar, polo-pan kind of music and new wave like london grammer etc; Gorillaz, dire straits, led zeppelin kind of cult music; classic music (my favs are bach and beethoven), some ethnic and folk music; björk/sigur ros kind of nordic spiritual music; kendrick lamar,future kind of dopie music and a lot more like swing jazz etc. Last but not least, i adore electronic/techno music! I can not tell specificly a movie but the directors: I like Darren Aronofski, Yorgos Lantimos, Miyazaki, David Lynch, Wes Anderson and so on. I dont watch series but Rick and Morty is something different! I adore that one.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn about other cultures and phares from other languages and i like to talk movies books and music.

I can teach how to juggle poi, how to make handstand/headstand with some yoga poses. I would like to play chess. I can share my travelling stories (which is a lot cause i am mostly travelling alone and spontaneously which causes too many bad and good unexpected experiences). I can also share about my hockey life.

I really like to talk about what does life mean and so on and i like to learn different perceptions and to have these kind of deeper conversations.
