About Me

I'm a Food and Nutrition graduate from England- massive lover of food (of course) and the environment. i spent most of the holidays from university travelling to different places in Europe but after a Summer of working and saving me and my partner were able to travel long term! Without a big budget we were unable to do the usual hostels/hotels/backpacking so we volunteered as we went. We started off in Norway volunteering at a cheese farm through WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms). After a quick stop in Germany and England over the Christmas period we continued 'wwoofing' and have just returned from 2 months in Spain where we stayed at 2 different olive farms on the South coast.

After spending 6 months at pre-planned farms we have spontaneously chosen to go backpacking - no set dates, destinations just wherever the wind takes us! We want to visit the European countries we've always dreamed of :)

The list so far includes the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland and end up in the South East of France.

Once the money is gone off home we will go!

*update* So of course, the money ran out but probably after our energy supply! We made it to the Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and we finished in Croatia. From Croatia we took 5 coaches and spent 35 hours getting to Germany where we caught up on some much needed rest and indulged in home comforts.
I then returned to the UK and Phil stayed in Germany- we both went back in to full time employment and saved every penny we could for our next adventure- New Zealand. 6 months later and i'm writing this profile update from a hostel computer after doing the North to South island crossing. We've been here just under 3 weeks and we are already itching to get back into the Couchsurfing scene :D

UPDATE
So 4 years on and I'm settled and living a very adult life in Wellington, Aotearoa. I have a steady job, routine and a vibrant social life. I am however missing that deeper connection with like-minded people. I am the same as above and a million times more. I care deeply about our journey and purpose in life, the earth around us and the encounters we have in our lifetime. I know that it is these meetings which shape us. It is these meetings I remember so fondly from my couchsurfing days and hope to find again 🤗 I'm not looking to he hosted or host, I'd just like to find some great people to hang out with

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a real people person. Year after year in my school reports the one thing that always appeared was my love of talking!

University was a great way to socialise with people from different walks of life- opening my mind to different lifestyles and ideas.

My love for socialising and meeting new people was a big influence in choosing WWOOF as it was a great opportunity to meet people from different parts of the world and be fully immersed in their lifestyles, culture and country- hence us staying longer than most.

When a friend introduced me to Couchsurfing i knew straight away it would bring once in a lifetime opportunities and the ability to connect with people across the globe, that i might not otherwise get the chance to! It's just not the same to stay in hostels/hotels. Staying with hosts brings laughter, great conversation, cultural exchange, and the chance to see the area like a local!

Interests

I am a lover of the outdoors and always up for a challenge, this has meant a lot of time volunteering was spent exploring the local areas by foot- be that mountains, waterfalls or canoeing in lakes! I feel happy when i'm at the coast enjoying the views of the sea, watching the people passing by.

Other hobbies include cooking, crocheting, meditation and yoga. I love to learn new skills and recently tried my hand at henna skin designs.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can't really summarise my music taste in to a few categories as what i like is often influenced by my mood and i enjoy listening to nearly all genres of music.

I must admit i am not a big movie fan. I love to watch a really great movie that i can take something away from but it's not often i sit down in the evening to do this- if you have any recommendations for good films i'd love to hear them but unfortunately i'm not much help with that!

When it comes to books I love anything that I can get lost in, that will make me laugh and stir other emotions within me. I love the power of the imagination when reading- the brilliant way in which the mind creates visual characters and places within the book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2014 i did a Skydive and raised £500 for a charity dedicated to helping children and young adults who have had less fortunate starts in life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Some of the most important lessons i have learnt in life have come from socialising and sharing. I hope that even at the young age of 23 i am able to pass on any knowledge I have on subjects less familiar to you and also learn lots from you too!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a friendly face who is great a listener, but i also love to share my own life stories and beliefs. I hope that i can share friendship with my hosts that will last much longer than the time i am staying with them :)

I love to cook and bake, as well as trying local foods so maybe we can cook for each other and share recipes and tips if time allows us!
