About Me

Hey! My name is Lisa, I am 21 years old and currently studying International Relations in Erfurt. I spent last semester in Colombia and my year after high school in Chile, working in two projects and have been back there this year as well. I am a vegetarian enjoying all the maracuyas this world has to offer.

Hola!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think the best way to learn about cities, countrys, cultures is with locals or people who have been living in a place for quite some time. I am not a big fan of living in hostels and not experiencing how the locals live and think about stuff. Also I believe to keep this world sane we need to make connections with people who didn´t grew up in the same place as we did.

Interests

I probably like to do the basic shit everybody loves to do who is on this page: to travel, discover new places (which are not so touristy), connect with different people, learn about cultures and languages

I also love to go snowboarding (even though I haven´t been shreddin the gnar in like 2 years), when I have the possibility I love to learn surfing as well (tried it once in France and once in Chile so I can stand up but that´s about it cause I learned that it´s really exhausting for my arms to push me up :D). I was in a circus for 8 years doing the trapeze, but unfortunately had to stop doing so, because I moved.. but if someone is interested in that artistic stuff as well I would love to refresh my memory :)
I am very interested in international politics and history and would love to learn more and discuss topics!!
Once I get sucked in to a topic I cannot stop researching it, like that one time I learned everything about the mexican drug cartells instead of learning other stuff I had to learn for my University
I like playing soccer, but really I am into any kind of sport and I will put my best effort in even though I may suck :D
Another thing I enjoy is dancing! When I was in Chile I danced salsa with some friends but never learned it properly, so that´s on my list. When I am in a good mood I will dance like nobody is watching (well maybe after two or three beers..).

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to listen to alternative, indie, house and good chilean music like matanza. That sounds so hipster.. well lets be honest here, I also like reggeaton (I know, I know shame on me..). When I first arrived in Chile I hated it so much, but after a year of listening to it over and over again I can say it has made it´s way into my spotify on a regular basis. Recently I have been to a concert of Residente so I am into Rap and any kind of musica latina.
The best movies are the ones which are based on real (political/historical) events and that capture you. Also the ones that aren´t made by the United States. I love watching movies in their original language.
I like all kinds of books, but they shouldn´t be fantasy!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I built me a new life in a place where I knew nobody and couldn´t speak the language.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a good listener so if you´d like to tell me about some crazy couchsurfers or trips you have made please do!
If you run out of stories I can tell some aswell :) I could teach you some german, even though I have noticed it is really hard to teach your native language to someone else because I don´t get my german grammar either :D
I like having conversations which involve some beers or good wine, because that is when the people get honest and could try to make you some flipped pancakes.. still and forever practicing the throwing and catching of the pancakes with a pan
