Hi, I am 21 year-old girl from Denmark who have loved travelling for as long as I remember. I first started travelling with my grandma back when I was still a little girl in pink princess dresses but now I travel on my own (or with friends). Last year I ventured out on a six month long trip to Guatemala, El Salvador and Cuba and I am currently doing a three months road trip around Australia with my childhood friend. I grew up in a collective and do consider myself the happiest around other people. I am always up for grabbing a beer and meet someone new.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me the best thing about travelling is meeting new people. The best memories from my time on the road are those where I’ve spent hours talking to people from cultures different from my own. I’ve been on two cultural exchanges during my school time, one in Ireland and one I Spain – and in my sabbatical year I lived three months with a family in Guatemala. Those experiences are invaluable to me. I’ve been told that Couch-surfing is an incredible way to meet other people and get an insight into the way of life in another country.

Interests

I am addicted to travelling and currently most
of my money and time are spent on this. Otherwise eating chocolate and drinking coffee preferably with a book in my hand,
Writing and drawing (getting creative), can be quite passionate about Game of Thrones, have on my travels discovered a passion for mountain trekking (though I am slightly afraid of heights) singing, drinking tequila on a Friday night and during the winter months of Denmark I do enjoy winter bathing as a proper viking should

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I am a vivid reader and will read almost anything. I enjoy everything from textbooks about the inner workings of democracy and classics (Pride and Prejudice, the Secret Garden) to fantasy novels such as Harry Potter and the Hunger Games.

Movies and series: Lord of the Rings, Interstellar, Game of Thrones, the Wire, Friends and many more!!

Music: Tina Dickow, First Aid Kit, the Passengers, the Lumineers and many more but I am horrible at remembering band names

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve hiked a mountain barefoot!
It is definitely one of my greater accomplishments… as well as one of the stupidest. After a month of hiking in jungles and climbing volcanoes in Guatemala, I had managed to ruin two pair of shoes, which meant that for my three weeks stay in Cuba I had only my flip-flops left. Capitalism doesn’t exactly thrive in Cuba and it proved to be an impossible task to find a good pair of shoes that fit my feet and didn't ruin my budget. Being a bit stubborn I decided to give it a go in flip-flops but because we were in the hurricane season the roads was pure mud and after just 10 minutes of walking in flip-flops I took them off and did the rest of the trek barefoot.

Teach, Learn, Share

Currently trying to get a hang of the Australian lingo - still amazed by the fact that Aussies can have five different names for the same beer and neither of these are the actual name of the beer!

While I am not the best cook in the world and might like to experiment a bit too much with the food I am cooking, then I will be more than happy to cook for you. Also always happy to give advice on Denmark and the countries I've visited
