Overview
About Me
I'm a 28 year old human - female. I have lived in New Zealand (well known as NZ) almost my entire life. I spent my childhood between a remote back country farm, sailing around NZ or living in a small regional town. I went to school occasionally and was home schooled while adventuring. I studied law, political science and anthropology at university and now I work as a Project Manager.
I've spent the last five years working on the rebuild and regeneration of my favourite city and home - Christchurch (if you haven't heard, there was a series of major earthquakes in 2010/11 and almost the entire city was destroyed). I am passionate about urban regeneration and creating spaces and places people want to be, spend time and explore. I love cooking (especially with organic home grown food) and the outdoors; mostly the sea and the sun, but any body of water you can swim in will do. I enjoy film and the theatre, and I LOVE books (real ones, although the old Kindle is convenient), I also love working (I've been very fortunate to have had a job that I love getting up for every day) but most of all I love doing fun activities with other people - whatever the adventure, as long as there are good people, oh and good food, I'm happy. I live my life based on the principles of mindfulness - well I've been trying; its getting easier.
As of April I'm packing up my life as I know it and embarking on a journey around the world. I'm doing this in part with friends, but in the main on my own. It has always been a goal of mine to travel by myself before I am 30 so here goes.... I'm hitting Europe and the UK first and then off to the America's!! Planning undertaken - minimal. Excitement levels - at an all time high!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As I might have mentioned, I'm people person. As an extrovert I can't spend too much time alone and prefer to share my experiences with others. I've heard nothing but great things about Couchsurfing; I've been told countless times that the experiences had through Couchsurfing have made peoples trips and that meeting the people who live in a place is the only way to truly experience it. I've got to close friends who just got engaged; he was her Courchsurfing host - what more can I say!!
Interests
As motioned above I'm into the standard eating, sleeping, relaxing and playing - especially in the outdoors; skiing, tramping, rock climbing, sailing, anything that's active and a good time. I cant live without Yoga and am teaching myself how to meditate. I also love to party.
I love horses and cats - not such a fan of dogs (unless they are old, don't jump and/or smell like dog). I know more than I thought possible about disaster recovery and urban regeneration and am hoping to learn a few trade tips about how great cities work around the world. You will often find me creeping around public spaces just to see 'how they feel'.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: everything except heavy/death metal and any song that sounds more like a whinge than a good tune. I love kiwi music and anything that makes you want to sing along or dance - the old classics, house, hip hop - I'm not bothered. Just never make me listen to an entire album of one artist at once, except Bob Dylan. I'll make an exception for Bob.
When it comes to movies and books I will read and watch almost anything. I have a weird thing about crime shows and love a good autobiographical and/or historical novel. I don't do favourites - it really depends on my mood and what I'm into at the time - needless to say I'm a chronic channel flicker.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Circumnavigated New Zealand (its an Island) on a yacht. At age 9.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you a lot about earthquakes and rebuilding a city. I can teach you yoga and how to make a poi (look it up). I love learning and sharing fun facts and know a card game or two. I really want to learn how to surf and I have a mild obsession with one day flying a glider plane. I can cook almost anything and I'm not bad at washing up! I can teach you English and how to Irish jig. Really I think I could learn just about anything - languages are going to be my next nut to crack. I'm thinking Spanish.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm pretty handy in the garden and have been a farm hand more than once. I love to cook - I had a country upbringing; I can make something out of nothing. I also offer great chat (when not jet lagged) and can teach you a few cracker yoga moves. I can look after your children, your cat, your horse, your fish, or even your dog (at a stretch). I'm teaching myself how to meditate so you're welcome to get into it with me - I'm not very good. I can tell you anything you want to know about NZ, and when I return from my travels I can share this beautiful country with you.
