About Me

As my profile will allready tell you, I'm a twenty year old Dutch student. I'm very much interested in outdoor and adventure sports, especially rock climbing. I'm always good for a chat of course. The reason I am (or will be, actually) in the US is that I'm studying here for about half a year. I will be studying at the South Utah University.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The reason why I'm on couchsurfing is that, after my semester ends I will be travelling through the US (probably mostly around Utah and surrounding states). So I'd love to make contact with some new people there.

Interests

I have a deep love for rock climbing and the rock climbing community. I love meeting new people and making new contacts. The rest of my interests go out to (outdoor) sports in general, but of course also to things like games, books and music.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is pretty much anything rock 'n roll, anything from Simon&Garfunkel and Pink Floyd, to The Doors en The Stones, to Metallica and Guns 'n Roses. Although I like movies, I can't say I really have a favorite movie. The same goes for books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One the most amazing things I've ever done was to explore the catacombs of Paris with a group of friends. The Paris catacombs are a network of tunnels under Paris, which lie at around 20 meters under ground and are estimated to go as deep 40 meters under ground. The total length of this maze is estimated to be no less than 200 kilometers. We made a kind of a tourist trip around the catacombs, looking and trying to find all of the most interesting parts to see. We've spent somewhere around five hours down there. It's a crazy experience to keep on walking through those tunnels, there were parts of tunnels where you had to take of your bag, crawl on your stomach and hope that you don't get stuck. But then there were huge rooms, with a ceiling of metres high, in which you could easily fit a hundred people. The things we've seen down there were amazing, yet completely crazy! There was beautifull grafitti art on the wall at some places, there was a complete beer brewery (although not anymore in use) in one of the deeper parts. These are just examples of the many things we found there, but in the end the most amazing bit of it all was getting out again and finally seeing daylight and breathing fresh air. We also made a video of it all (I left a link down here), so that you can see for yourself. (I'm the guy in the black and white shirts)

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't have any experience with this. So I guess I have plenty to learn, but not much teach or share in this aspect.

What I Can Share with Hosts

What I can share with my host is plenty of funny stories from rock climbing and all kinds of other experiences. As I said, I'm always up for a chat or a decent talk.
