Overview
About Me
Karim is a man on a relentless quest to inspire people and better the world. He is also a historian and professional baseball player currently pursuing his Master’s degree in War Studies at King’s College London.
He is a self-development junkie whose favourite hobby is to travel, meet people and create moments and experiences that will live long after he is gone. He is also the kind of person who writes about himself in third person, just because he can.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have come to realise the most important things in life are people and the moments you create with them. Couchsurfing offers the best of both worlds; you really never know how these strangers might surprise you in their own special way.
I'm a well-versed traveller who doesn't need babysitting and knows how to be a good guest.
Interests
Sightseeing captures my mind and imagination like few things do. Landscapes are where I feel most alive. When I travel, I'm always looking for the best views and places with a history behind them. I love visiting battlefields and architecture.
I'm an avid reader and blogger.
Gaming also runs through my veins.
Partying, dancing, and connecting with people - I can do it all day, every day.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love a good deep house session of music, it's the perfect balance of chill sounds that don't put me to sleep. I am also fascinated by Medieval, Irish and Celtic music, I can't get enough of those bagpipes and drums. Latino music runs through my veins naturally, yet if it's playing, expect me to be dancing to it.
Movie-wise, I'm quite mainstream. The Lord of the Rings is probably my favourite movie, followed closely by Star Wars and Harry Potter. Added to that, I absolutely adore historical war movies: Gladiator, Braveheart, Kingdom of Heaven, Robin Hood, etc.
I mostly read self-development books. I devour those things. I'm not much into fiction or novels because I don't believe they provide enough value for my time. I'm a very practical person and thus I like books which are specifically designed to teach me something. I am looking at entering the genre of autobiographies as well, they seem to offer quite a lot of value too.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lived the dream of becoming a professional athlete.
What I Can Share with Hosts
- Break-ups? One bad relationship after another? Social anxiety? Low confidence? "They're all the same"? I work with one of the most prominent dating and life development companies in the world. I'm quite knowledgeable in anything that has to do with inter-personal and inter-gender dynamics. I'll gladly do some free coaching, or share both my knowledge and materials to those who are interested.
- Want to escape the typical job prison, live anywhere you wish, whenever you wish, with a business you can take with you everywhere you go? I am a member of one of the most exclusive online business Masterminds out there. If you're interested in the entrepreneur path and the location independent/online nomad lifestyle, I'll get you on the right path.
- I can teach or help practice English, Spanish, and French using principles of cognitive neuroscience and time management that can be applied to attain conversational fluency (defined as 95%+ comprehension and 100% expressive abilities) in 1-3 months.
- Want more Instagram fans? More Tinder matches? More Snapchat followers? I'm a self-taught social media visual artist. I carry a DSLR camera with which I can take and edit pictures and videos of you using professional techniques that simply make content more attractive. I can also get you popular software like Photoshop and Premiere Pro for free, forever (legally).
- As an avid traveller, I have learned how to use and maximise technology specifically aimed at travelling. I can teach you how to book everything for cheaper, useful apps for any need you could have while travelling, tips for documenting your travels, and many more.
- As a professional athlete, I have plenty of first-hand experience with fitness, nutrition, and performance. I'll be delighted to pass such knowledge and practices to whoever is interested. If you want to take it to even a higher level, I am a personal good friend of one of the most prominent rising coaches in the fitness industry, you'd be amazed at what he can do for you when I pass your name on to him.
- I carry with me a powerful gaming laptop you can borrow (as long as you take good care of it, it's my baby).
- As a Master's student, I can write very well and have a solid knowledge of proper academic practices. I can teach you writing techniques, research methods, reading skills, exam taking tips, etc. as well as sites where you can take free online courses in pretty much any subject you want to learn more about (some of them for free).
- I can, and will definitely give a hand with any house chores that are needed: cleaning, laundry, cooking, moving stuff, shopping, etc.
