Greetings, traveler!

I'm a 30 years old Belgian guy and for the past ten years, my life has been intimately linked to coffee. We are roasters in my family since 1936, my brother, sister and I being the 4th generation (Knopes Artisan Torréfacteur). Along the way I had the opportunity to work as Barista & Coffee Roaster in Belgium, Luxembourg and England.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The whole point of traveling is to get to know and learn from other people and culture. Planet earth would be such a nicer place to live in if everyone would be keen on helping his neighbor. Meeting people around the world and sharing with each other chapters of our lives is a priceless experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music : I'm an easy person to satisfy with all kind of music but love to listen to 70's Rock, Folk, and film soundtracks. My favorite band Ratatat doesn't fit in any of these categories though...

Movies : I think Star Wars is top of the list but I enjoy all type of film once again. Western and Historical movies are above the rest!

Books : Fantasy mostly but I also like anything related to history.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

First thing that comes to my mind is a 6 days walking expedition in the Guatemalan jungle of Peten to get to the super remote archeological Mayan site of El Mirador. Exhausting but such an incredible experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach : I can do a 10 hours long power point presentation on the science of coffee. Of course, if it sounds boring to you I can also just teach you the basics on how to choose the right beans and how to brew the perfect cup at home, or even help you to spot the best cafes around! I guess I can try to teach you some French as well if you fancy it?

Learn : I'd love to get better at photography! I also decided to get back to sport recently (jogging & workout) and I'd be glad to get some advices.

Share : if you want to go out for beer or coffee, I'm your man! I enjoy cooking as well and can adapt very quickly to all kind of kitchen and ingredients. My favorite meals of late are my mom's recipe of the classic spaghetti bolognese (cooked w/ red wine) or my take on the traditional Indian Jalfrezi if you fancy something a little bit more spicy like I do!

I can guarantee you a delicious cup of coffee every morning! I'm an easy going person and I worked in the hospitality industry for a while so I'm a clean and organized and would gladly help you in your daily housekeeping tasks.
