About Me
Hello, my name is Amelie! I grew up in Brussels, a very diverse city. But the small capital of Belgium was too small for me so I started traveling.
I traveled across the globe to learn more about sustainable agriculture and about people. I always wanted to be involve in promoting a more sustainable way of living.
Two years ago I started working as a technical counselor in Burkina Faso for a Belgian NGO. I lived there for one year and a half. Then I decided to go back to Belgium to follow an other passion and become a teacher.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because when you travel by going to hotels and so on, you miss a lot of opportunities to discover other things. I enjoy meeting new people and learning about other cultures, try different food, share opinions. And Couchsurfing is a very good way to meet new people that can share with you things you wouldn't be aware of if you were just traveling following the Lonely Planet or the Routard.
Interests
I love being outside, discovering new people and new landscapes. I really like to learn about agriculture and how the food system works in different countries.
I also really love food! I'm always so happy to discover new kind of food, especially street food. I cannot travel without trying all the local food!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I passed out trying to climb the Chimborazo (6263 m), Ecuador, without training! Even if I failed getting to the top, I'm proud of me for trying. But now I learned from my mistakes, next time I'll train and get to the top!
