Overview
About Me
I am an easy going, cheerful Spanish guy, who was been living in Turkey, Denmark, France and who is currently based in Antwerp (Belgium). I have been living in Belgium now for 4 years, where I work for an engineering consultancy firm as a coastal engineer. That means that the last few years, both because of work and because of a well-known pandemic have not been the best in terms of travelling. Trying to fix that now.
My mothertongue is Spanish but I'm fluent at English too. I can have basic conversations in Dutch and I have some knowledge in French and Turkish, but those are a bit rusty at the moment I must say.
More about me...I'm 27, I would define myself as a friendly and down-to-earth person, with interests in music (I play guitar myself), places and cultures. (As a coastal engineer) I am passionate about the sea and since last year, I practice scuba diving. Trying local cuisine is also on the top of my priority list.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe travelling is more fun when you can meet new people and share experiences. The Covid pandemic made this even more obvious.
Interests
Music is one of my passions. I used to play clarinet and guitar, but continued mainly with guitar. Anyway I'm always keen on sharing some musical knowledge.
I'm also in love with Turkish culture and food. Going to a Turkish restaurant is always a good option. I'm a up for learning new languages as well and I can teach some Spanish, if you are interested.
Music, Movies, and Books
I used to listen to heavy metal music but I have ´softened´ over the years towards rock, pop rock, folk rock. I like (mainly the old) Bob Dylan, as a musician and as a writer, I'm really into Spanish music as well, but I listen sometimes to some rap, and some Italian and French music.
I like watching and reading about historical events. I have quite some interest in history as well.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
First hitchhiking experience. I was 20, and I was living in Istanbul (Turkey). We decided to split into groups to then meet up in Eskisehir. After some nice conversations with a couple of drivers, one of the drivers paid bus tickets for us, and we made half of the distance by bus. We decided to invite him when we were back in Istanbul and spent a really good time for 3 more days. Nice way to meet new people.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We can share some nice conversations about our cultures. Taking a beer or a coffee is always a good plan. I'm also up for chilling while playing cards or any boardgame. I also like going sightseeing if I'm hosted and showing the city where I live.
