About Me

After years of working in an office in different fields (advertising, communication, HR, purchasing, etc) in France, Luxembourg and England, I've decided that it was time that I start doing what I really love: travelling. I've been a good reasonnable girl studying and working, it's time to live for real while I'm still (kinda) young. :-)

I've been travelling for a while but only solo for about 5 years going to friends' who introduced me to other people who invited me too, and from one opportunity to another I have seen different countries and way of living.

I like to meet new people, feel comfortable eating in a 5* restaurant as much as raiding the bin of a supermarket for "food waste" (I actually did that in Sweden, I am still chocked at all the perfectly edible food that is thrown away whilst others have nothing to eat). I love city breaks in Europe as much as camping in a tent in the middle of Malagasian Primary forest. I just need to move and discover new places. I get along with most people, I'm never mean, I hate drama, I'm quite open minded, good tempered and love to laugh and share experiences. Only uncalled-for nastiness, rudeness and cruelty get on my nerves.

Although I like a nice party, I am no party animal. As a matter of fact, I like to live slowly and follow what my body tells me: when it wants to hike, I hike, when it wants to rest, I rest, when it has enough sleep I get up, when it wants food, I feed it, when it wants to dance, I go out, etc. A simple life really.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Last year, I went to Russia and used AirBnB. Our hosts (a lovely couple) told me that the next time I visit I should contact them via couchsurfing and they'd be happy to have me as a guest. I told them that I had joined couchsurfing a long time ago but had never used it. They toinsisted ld me I definetely should.

So here I am! I can't wait to finally experience the couchsurfing network and meet fellow travellers and welcoming hosts !

Interests

I am interested in too many things to list here and I am always happy to learn about new stuff, as you will see if we meet.

I can only add that my two real passions in life are travelling (discovering new cultures, people, languages, landscape, food, etc) and animals.

I usually choose my destination considering the fauna I will be able to see there (and by extension the flora, everything of nature really, everything that is alive) but I also sometimes end up in places by chance, seizing an opportunity that presented itself, going with the flow, feeling lucky to be able to see this amazing world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Leaving everything that made my life confortable in France to try my luck in London (and living there for almost 9 years).

Discovering New York and the Niagara Falls.

Coming face to face with a cassowary in the forest of Queensland, Australia. Scary, intense and wonderful.

Being joined by two enormous sea turtles while snorkelling in Madagascar was one of the highlights of my life (I can't even swim without fins and tend to stay close to the shore).

Flying to the Amber Mountain to see the Brookesia Minima (smallest chameleon in the world) and holding one in my hand. Magical.

Taking my mum to Russia (Moscow, St Petersburg) during the White Nights.

Witnessing massive northern lights in Swedish lapland.

Helping my mum caring (full time) for my grand-mother for the last year of her life (97 yo).

Being a bridesmaid in a fabulous 3-day Mauritian wedding.

Rescuing animals.

Camping in a protected area of the Malagasian primary forest (usually not open to tourists).

...and so much more.

Teach, Learn, Share

I dobelieve every person you meet knows something you don't.

It can be something you can teach like a skill, a language, a job or it can be a way of thinking that will have you look at things in a different light and change your life for ever. I have met people who have changed my views completely just by the different way they were seiing things and I have been told by others that I had done the same for them. That is also why we are travelling and love to meet people, right?

On a more practical level, I can't really list everything I could bring to the table, it depends of what you know and need, but note that I'm always eager to help. We can discuss this if we decide to meet.

As for what I would like to learn specifically, languages and vegetarian cooking come to mind (french cuisine is quite poor on the vegetarian level compare to other cuisines) but I'm eager to learn lots of things I will encounter for the first time.
