About Me

Well, hello world! I'm 26 year old girl from Belgrade who recently stepped out from her comfort zone, ready to meet you and I hope you are ready for me too! Now if you have that expression of "whaaaaat?" on your face, I have to say "yeah, I mean it". So, a year ago I met some pretty cool people that helped me change my perspective, lifestyle (thank you guys) and life plans (yup, I used to plan everything, but everything, like life is something you should plan...honestly, I still keep my planner but trying not to schedule every day) and now I'm about to discover the world, and it will be great if you can be part of it. :)
I love energetic people, listening to their life stories and giving my perspective.
I don't think I have sense for humor, but my close friends say I do, so the chances of seeing me being funny are 50/50.
Generally, I like pets (I used to have the fastest turtle in the world), but cats aren't my favorite (one Russian blue cat ruined their reputation of cuteness, she's evil, evil I tell you :) ). If you wanna know more about me just scroll down..
Btw, my name is pronounced as Olya cause in Serbian when 'l' and 'j' stand next to each other they make one sound 'lj'.. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

You scrolled! Yeeey, that means it's time for step 2: Why am I here?
Because my friends told me it's awesome (I use awesome a lot, you'll notice, like there are no other adjectives)! They told me this is a great way to meet people all around the world, to get a better insight into places and countries you plan to visit, to have fun and make friends, build bridges and make memories. And I believe they were right, but still I'm about to discover everything they said.

Interests

You wanna know more, things I wrote above weren't enough? Ok, let's continue...my interests.
Should I just list them all in here?
Should it be a short list?
Am I questioning everything? (I'm not a weirdo, pinky promise, just my sign is Virgo)
Ok, it goes like this: learning languages (please teach me couple of phrases, the most common ones in your mother tongue, maybe dirty ones if possible :D ), meeting new awesome people, water skiing, singing, politics, human rights, environment, decorating, writing, fashion, theater, cooking, food in general, karaoke, growing plants, beagles (I really love them!!! Can't wait to have my own), bicycling, archery, antiques, history etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music..tough one..I don't think I have favorite band, or musician, or even a song. Guess you'd have to see my playlist and figure out by yourself since it has everything, Serbian, Spanish, Persian, Italian, Portuguese, American, Russian and Croatian music, from Serbian turbo folk (some people call it trash music, but I say 'de gustibus non est disputandum'), to pop, rap, indie pop, techno, jazz, soft punk and R & R etc. What I really like is discovering new music and it would be great if you could give me some recommends. And as I'm writing this I'm listening Caro Emerald - Back it up.
Same stands for movies. I have difficulties with choosing a movie that can keep my attention so I usually seek for recommends..or I just watch shows like Friends, House of cards, Lie to me, Bones, dr House etc. (I think I'm the only person who is not watching the Game of Thrones - my housemates made me watch one episode with a beheaded horse and I was like 'nooo way I'm gonna watch it ever again'..yeah). So, if it's a movie there must be a powerful message to make me think about it and introspect it, or I'll just think that it was a waste of time.
Books - now we're talking. One might say I'm a book worm...and that wouldn't be wrong. Here I actually have a favorite author and that's Jose Saramago. I read almost every book he ever wrote and so far my number one is "Blindness". But, that doesn't mean I dislike others, because I don't. Actually, about the same time I started my studies at the University I also started making my own little personal library which I'm very proud of. The bad thing is I have to hide most of my books each time my family comes to visit cause some of them think it's a waste of money...yup..but shhh..it's a secret..that just got viral.. :)
Oh, and I have an annual reading plan, 52 books for 52 weeks (But this year I didn't stick to it all, bad me)! And I have another, even bigger plan, to read at least one book from each Nobel Prize for Literature winner..like that's gonna help me figure out why they got that prize at all.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I participated in a competition in singing French songs and I forgot the last chorus, so I just sang it as "la la la la la"..everybody laughed, but to me it was awesome!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you something about my culture and the city I live in, some cool phrases in Serbian or Farsi, teach you how to make Serbian coffee...basically, just ask me what you wanna know and if I'm familiar with the topic, I'll do my best to make it memorable. :) I'd like to learn something about yourself, your country, city, lifestyle, cool customs, history, everything that you're willing to share with me. Cultural differences are a super cool thing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I guess that's up to you, but if there is something that I can share, like food or drinks, or I don't know...toothpaste, energy, coffee..I can share it, just ask me. :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Montenegro
