About Me

I am Zoë, born in Belgium and still living here. Currently, I'm studying Geography in Brussels.

I'm a more reserved person and I like to observe people (sounds creepier than it is). But I will start opening up as soon as it feels okay. I'm not much of a talker, I just like to enjoy the moment in silence, even with friends, a comfortable silent moment is one of the best things. But that doesn't mean I don't love to have interesting conversations, and sharing thoughts.
My biggest goal for myself is to stay true to who I am (in the positive way, I'm working on the rest) and to do what is right, even it isn't the easiest way.. my entire life, no matter what... Yes, that's pretty important to me.

Unfortunately, at the moment I'm uncapable of hosting travelers. But when I have my own place, I will certainly make up for that!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've never really liked the way in which we travel these days... Traveling miles only to stay in your hotel at the pool, craving for that brown skin, or only going as far as the beach... It's so absurd, we travel so far only to do things we can easily do at home and ignoring completely the beautiful/interesting country you're staying in. I think we should leave our 'Western Bubble' a little more often, learn to know other people from other cultures, with other habits, other opinions, beliefs,... It's the best thing in the world, seeing new things, being openminded, listening to each other, show respect, and most of all, learning to live with each other again, because we lost that a bit, haven't we?

Interests

*Movie soundtracks & music: I don't think I can survive without music and then specifically movie soundtracks, I love it so so much. I'am trying to learn piano, in between my studies.

*Books/movies: Movies and books are such a great opportunity to tell inspiring stories. It's the best!!!

*Photography

*Writing

*Learning: oh yes, and by that I don't mean studying which happens under a lot of stress, but I love to absorb things at my own rate.

* Animals: I really love animals, but I prefer seeing them in freedom in nature. That's why I made a decision for myself: I only take care of animals (mostly hamsters) that are dumped or not wanted anymore. I try to share my experience with others so that they don't make the mistakes I've made. And in an attempt to counter the huge amount of wrong information mostly the pet stores are spreading.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC
All kinds of movie soundtracks. My favorite composer is James Newton Howard, but I also love Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Rachel Portman, Harry and Rupert Gregson-Williams, Alexandre Desplat, Steve Jablonsky... (and I can go on for a while)

MOVIES
Hunger Games Trilogy, Unbroken, Hacksaw Ridge, Interstellar, Avatar, The Sixth Sense, A Beautiful Mind,... (and again another whole list). What I love so much about the movies above is that they're telling inspiring stories, or carry a beautiful message with them. And I love getting inspired by them.

BOOKS
Way too many! But 'Prisoners of Geography' by Tim Marshall is definitly worth a read!
