Hi there, I am Sharon from Taiwan.
People I met around the world used to call me "Hobbit" since my size is almost the upper limit of hobbit height. I finally found where I belong in this world is in Hobbiton, New Zealand and I really wish to stay in The Shire for the rest of my life.(just kidding)
My previous job in Taiwan was a receptionist working for a hostel. I love working in the hospitality industry, it gives me the chance to make friends and improve my English! I met many backpackers from around the world whilst working in the hostel, many of whom shared their stories and experience from their travels which influenced me to get out of my comfort zone and explore, feel and see everything with my own eyes!
I left Taiwan in September 2014 and have stayed in Australia for working holidays since.

I’ve used the HelpX system and some homestay programs to stay with locals in a few countries. It was a great experience and I believe it’s a great way to get to know more about the different cultures!

I teach arts at primary school and STEAM education startup.
I'm running a project called "Travelers in Class", which invites you, travelers, to schools in Miaoli, Taiwan so you can share your exciting stories and talents (such as painting or photography), make friends and have fun with local students. I believe it's a good way for every traveler and student to learn from and share life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think people are like books. And I believe each has it's own unique story. We never read a story unless we open the book and it's always better to see it through to the end!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I listen to all genres of music but my favourite style would have to be electronic, post rock and indie rock.
Movies:
I love a movie named "Into the wild" which gives me such a big inspiration and courage, getting to know myself better through travelling and everything has happened in daily life.

Teach, Learn, Share

-I can teach you how to paint with watercolor 'cause I carry simple painting tools with me sometimes when I travel. Zen-tangle would be easier for the beginner!

-I often enjoy having a chat with new ppl!

What I Can Share with Hosts

-I enjoy cooking, if you don't mind trying some oriental or exotic cuisine I'm happy with making some dishes for people.
-Anyone wants to learn Mandarin, culture of Taiwan and stuff, I'm willing to share with!
