About Me

Hey, I'm Mizuki.
I'm a gymnast turned traveler. I have spent many of my days wandering off to various experiences and hope to create some more with you.

After graduating from uni in San Francisco (Liberal Studies and Kinesiology.), I decided to follow my curiosity in to new adventures. I'm headed back to school, however, I am always looking for an excuse to squeeze in new memories. When I am not teaching in the classroom, I am in search of nature, cool people, or a good beer.

As a guest—I am a clean, respectable, non-smoker who enjoys getting know people. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here to meet fellow travelers, immerse in local culture, and share what I have learned.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I enjoy most genres of music but, damn, I love me some 90's alternative. Recently, I have been entranced by Washed Out, Local Natives, The xx, & Glass Animals to name a few. But there is definitely more variety in my library. I've linked one of my playlists here if you'd like to have a listen on Spotify.

Movies:
Unfortunately, I have a love/hate relationship with Disney's take on Pocahontas. But with that said, it's my favorite movie. Given the history, it's not enlightening to see how much money the company has made based on the gentrification of the indigenous population in the Americas. However, Pocahontas' spirit is one I like to relate to since I was a young girl.

Kubo, Mulan, Forest Gump, Lion, and so many more...

Books:
Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed
All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Teach. As I mentioned above, I was a gymnast. I spent my time as a young adult training competitive and recreation gymnasts. After finishing university, I began spending my time giving back to my nourishing community by substitute teaching. Although I am paying a service to my neighborhood, I never feel like I am not the one learning alongside my students.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make tasty sandwich or Japanese cuisine.

I'd like to learn more about photography and others experiences in travel, but also in life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can provide conversation but I can also help teach some basic gymnastic skills if you are willing. I enjoy being in the kitchen. My friends note that they enjoy everything I put together but I believe I truly excel in sandwich and smoothie combinations.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, England, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In
