About Me

Hello, I am a recent graduate of Ohio State University with my Master of Education degree. I will be teaching global studies at a high school in Columbus this fall. I look to better my teaching through exploration of places and cultures.

My father was in the Navy during my childhood, which meant frequent relocation. While my brother might disagree, I saw each move as an opportunity for more adventures with new friends. Now that my address is more stable, I hope to recreate this feeling through travel. In the limited traveling I have done as an adult, I have found it much more rewarding when I interacted with the locals. For example, I spent time teaching in Costa Rica, and choose to stay with a local couple. Despite a moderate language barrier and an age difference of 30 years, we had an incredible time. I look forward to creating more experiences like this one in the future.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Deception Point, Bossy Pants, A Song of Ice and Fire, and Where the Red Fern Grows.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

White water rafted in Costa Rice. That same day I developed a fever that caused me to hallucinate that my father had been kidnapped, but worth it regardless.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach high school Social Studies, which as you might remember is very encompassing. The thing I love about my subject area is that every student I have or person I meet can teach me more about my own specialty. Everyone has their own history and interaction with it. I can share the fun facts I have learned from my studies that are often left out of the curriculum. I can also share plenty of card games. I can share an IPA and learn about local brews.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My boyfriend (Kevin) and I are an easy-going couple that loves to explore and experience new people and places. We are both high school teachers. As a social studies teacher, I seek to enrich my own practice through travel and learning about the perspectives of others. We can bring laughter, conversation, and adventure into your home!

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Mexico
