About Me

I have followed many career paths in my life thus far, I was offered to do make-up for Chanel at 17, I turned that opportunity down to travel to Italy in hopes to model. Once I realized that modeling wasn't my path I traveled to NYC to persue something in the fashion industry. When I realized that me not being 21 would hinder my networking, I worked on obtaining my certification to teach english abroad. Right before leaving I took a job at Starbucks hoping to better my relationships with my family rather than running away. During my first two years at Starbucks I promoted from barista to assistant store manager. One day I woke up and had enough of the corporate life and started planning this trip that I'm currently on.

While working at Starbucks I would be asked life questions that I didn't have answers to. I didn't have these answers because I didn't know what all my options were. Some of the questions were deep like "What faith are you?" to simple questions like "What is my favorite song?" I have started a road trip across America to start answering these questions and start finding out what my options in life are.

My favorite quote is, “Nothing of me is original. I am the combined effort of everyone I've ever known.” Chuck Palahniuk. I hope to meet many people to better myself and eventually help the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have created a website that is the foundation for my travel plans (www.iamkmq.com). I want to give people the opportunity to know what their options are for traveling and how to make their dreams a reality. Couchsurfing.com is the next step to my travels. I want to experience life through as many eyes as possible. Jumping from couch to couch will allow me to save money as well as gain experience that I never knew was possible.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During my high school days I was really involved with my school. I was very active in student council and chose to attend every dance. My school also had the highest percentage of developmentally disabled students in our district. What I noticed at our dances was most of our disabled student population didn't attended the dances. What I started with the support of my class was our first Dinner Dance. This was an annual event. A month before the event student council would take basic dinning classes with our D.D. students (which fork is for what kind of stuff). Then the class was divided into servers and entertainment. Each table of six had one student council member that kept the conversation going. After dinner we had a dance that everyone joined in on. The most rewarding part was at the end of the dance. Seeing the parents crying tears of joy watching their kids having a great time. What was even better was that this event is still going on to date and has spread to our surrounding schools.

This is my mentality, to be behind the scene making other peoples days. If possible a moment that they will remember for life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an open book but first like to asses my audience to know who I am talking to. I believe that the approach is everything. I try to be as respectful as possiable and be the guy that you could hang out with friends as well as meet your family. I love talking about what I know and am not afraid to say that I don't know. I am open to talking about simple things to deep conversation. I am a giver and not a taker and believe in sharing. If I have two of something I would give one away. With that being said I am also strong willed and strong minded. I am not afraid to stand up when the time is right.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy working hard and staying busy. I have been told by many that I would be a good "housewife" because I love to watch kids, cook, clean and take care of the household chores. I also love getting my hands dirty and am capable of some house maintenance. I'm willing to help do almost anything as trade for letting me crash at your place.
