About Me

Hey! I'm Bélgica (yes, it's Belgium in spanish, but no, I'm not a country haha). I'm an easy going and funny girl, and I'm new on CS. One friend of mine told me he was travelling using CS and it was the BEST experience in his life.

I'm from Antofagasta, a city in the middle of the Atacama desert, Chile. But I was tired of the sand so I decided to move to Valparaíso to study. OK, it was also because I liked to study fashion. Have you ever been to Valparaíso? it's an amazing, colorful and cosmopolitan city from the old Chile... I really love it. If you plan to do backpacking through South America it's compulsory to stop there. And of course, if I'm there let's meet and I'll show you arround!

I have a little problem: I still speak a slow english. Some one interested in exchanging english for spanish?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For chilean people is a little bit difficult to travel due to economical reasons. I only visited Argentina few years ago when I was leadering a Boy scouts group.

But now it's my time: I won a fashion prize and the award is amazing: a trip to New York! The prize only includes 4 days in the Big apple, buuut I want to spend a little bit more time there.
I'm visiting New York on my own, so I thought signing in CS would make it the trip of my life, can you help making it true? :P Of course it is much more better to visit a place with someone local, I'm sure you know it more than me.
That's why I also like to show Valparaíso arround to foreigners. I have hosted 3 times people, and now I want to make it via couchsurfing!

Interests

Ok, I'm a fashion designer, but don't judge me, I'm not that "cool fashion designer". In fact I love designing 'alternative' clothing. In Chile is quite difficult to get in touch with occidental fashion, but I'm not really interested in this, I like more to be creative, design my own clothes inspirated from other designs of course, but not copied as the mainstream fashion does. I'm quite critical about that.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Radio Head is my favourite group. I also like The killers, The Drums.
I also like Chilean music as Denver, Soestereo.

Movies: Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. Requiem for a dream, Trainspotting...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being a Boy scout have showed me lots of things such as to learn from kids. I think they are not listened as they diserve, they have a very clear vision of the world, we the adults are the blind, don't you think?

Teach, Learn, Share

Do you remember how the world looked like before you start travelling? I do, in fact I still have this idea about some things... That is gonna end soon, I really want to share points of views with people from all over the world. I always felt different from the people from Antofagasta (I must remind it's in the middle of the dryiest desert in the world). I love the people I know now and I want to meet more and more people, that's the most amazing thing in life: sharing. Whatever, but sharing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share:
1) My spanish.
2) Lots of laughs
3) I'm bad cooker, but so useful in helping in the kitchen
4) My point of view. OK, that's not very original.
5) I love to listen.
6) I'll convince you to visit Chile. You always wanted it but need a little push? Lets make a coffee haha.
