About Me

I grew up in Manitouwadge, Ontario, a small isolated mining town. This provided numerous opportunities to explore outdoor activities within the crownland of the northern shield's rugged beauty and the coast of Lake Superior.

I am now living in my own house within Peterborough, Ontario but rugged terrain pulls at my heart and soul. I've hiked a lot of Canada's backcountry (usually 10 days) and driven from coast to coast more than once. I now have a 30ib border collie puppy (1.5 yrs) who is my service dog in training (public access test) and she fits nicely into my outdoor adventures. Whether it be hiking, canoeing, all season camping or jogging trails. We also enjoy attending downtown outings, restaurants, festivals and theatre together but sometimes we like our time apart.

I love traveling, exploring and being immersed in different places, experiencing new cultures, meeting new, interesting, fun and respectful people. I'm a sucker for new experiences and fun people who are open to sharing because it's an opportunity to learn and grow. Everyday I work on my personal development. I live everyday like it is my last and ceasing every special opportunity realizing that it may not come around again.

The reason I travel is because I believe in experience and interaction over reading something or seeing something on tv. I want to breathe it all into my soul.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet and make friends with people who have good hearts and a chance to learn and grow with them.

Interests

I enjoy lots in the outdoors, winter camping (completed Lure of the North icebreaker canoe hauling expedition, 2 weeks, 2025), Canadian Indigenous culture, bushcraft and survival techniques. Although my preference is the northern shield and mountains, I still enjoy a warm bonfire on a beach under the stars and swimming.

I currently volunteer with Red Cross during the evacuations of northern Ontario's fly in communities.

Music, Movies, and Books

I usually start my morning with positive music, which is pretty much everything. I love live music that touches the soul, concerts, festivals, theatre, and markets. I collect books and enjoy reading. I have discovered hidden gems during my travels in used book stores, little public libraries or tucked away somewhere interesting and unexpected.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

What I Can Share with Hosts

Friendly and respectful socializing during a short-term accommodation. Love making friends with diverse people to better develop myself.

I have a 2 person/ single bed in a private spare room, a shared bathroom and kitchen. I also have a coach that can accommodate 2 people. The garden is lovely to walk in and the swing on the deck while watching the birds and rabbits is relaxing. Feel free to BBQ something delicious.

Peterborough is surrounded by beautiful wilderness walking and biking trails, bike paths with country landscapes of feilds and ponds that's home to turtles, blue herons and deer, patio restaurants/cafes on the water, canoe n kayak rentals and I would love to go with you, canoe museum, various markets (punk market is a fav with live music), festivals, unreal music scene, various entertainment at the market hall, local Curve Lake or Hiawatha powwow, Canadian Bushcraft with Caleb Musgrave is fantastic for learning about Indigenous traditional skills/culture, wild edibles, and his sugar bush workshop is a must experience.
