About Me

I grew up in a small country town in rural Queensland and since I've been either travelling, studying in Brisbane, or working overseas. Every time I go back to my small country town, it feels a little bit different. A bit less like home, but a bit more beautiful. I'm always kind of amazed at how ageing and travel can change your whole perception of yourself and your history.

At this stage in my life, I'm in that exiting period between undergraduate and postgraduate studies. I know a lot of people pick their degrees (and their career choices) for security, safety, pragmatism etc. I started off this way, studying law, and I found it utterly depressing. I swapped to history and I've never looked back. Each new book or article I read makes me feel like I'm closer to working 'it' out. And I feel like the longer I give time to hearing or reading people's stories, the closer I am to unlocking something really important. I'll let you know when it happens !

Other than that, I'm a very easy going person! I like to chat and be social and I don't take travel that seriously- each day is a bit of a surprise and I like to keep it that way.

I'd love to be hosted my anyone who values good conversation and mutual exchange. I'd stay in a hotel if I just wanted a place to sleep! Jokes, I don't have the money for that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I spent my first few overseas trips jumping in between hostels and backpackers, and it left me fairly uninspired. I've done some couch surfing (both on and off this site) and it always leaves me feeling pretty enlightened and encouraged.

I'd love to host to repay the many kindnesses, but I don't have a permanent address this year! Watch this space, though. I feel a permanent address coming soon.

Interests

I'm a sucker for Nina Simone, Pride and Prejudice, Sylvia Plath and Scarlett O'Hara.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my food ! I make a mean vegetarian stirfry.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully I can share some good company, good conversation, good stories, many cups of tea and coffee if desired. I'm very easy going/flexible and I'm very happy to slot in with other people's plans, and also happy to go off and do my own thing.
