Overview
About Me
Hey there, I'm Gabriel and well how can I say, I don't really know where I'm from! l was born in Belgium of a German mom and South African dad, but grew up in Luxembourg. For the last 5 years I never stayed in the same place for more than a year. I don't mind though, I kinda got addicted to travelling and discovering new places! Although, when listing the places I've already been to I notice that there's a lot more work to do! I'm currently on exchange in Zürich for a year, but I'm going back to my home uni in Aberdeen, Scotland in september.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I never really thought about couchsurfing until last summer, when I visited an old schoolfriend of mine in Geneva. She shared a house with 3 other people, and they constantly had couchsurfers coming in and out. Within a weekend I probably met a dozen people from Australia, England, Holland, Russia, Finland... 'twas one of the best weekends I had all year! The easy-going-ness of it all and the openness of those people immediately convinced me that I should definitely try this out too!

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm really into techno, house and electronic music in general at the moment, kinda want to get into DJing too. I did grow up primarily with classical music though, while also binging on rock, metal, reggae and african music (big up to Johnny Clegg and Ladysmith Black Mambaso!). My favourite artists are the one and only Ludwig van B, Freddie Mercury, Judas Priest and David August. My top 3 movies I'd say are Magnolia, Dog Pound and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Speaking of which, I also thoroughly enjoyed the Lord of the Rings books. I'm also really into French literature (especially Hugo, Stendahl, Balzac and Camus) and have been enjoying the odd management book as of late.
Teach, Learn, Share
What better way to get to know someone than by cooking together, food is life! I love discovering new cuisines and sharing my tastes with others, be it to nibble on a little entree, gollop a fancy main or to ponder over a fine wine :) I also love teaching and learning to speak new languages, it's always nice to add a few words and expressions to one's collection!
