Ok so Myanmar is now going through a nation-wide civil war, violence is rapidly escalating as rebel groups are trying to take over the genocidal junta who took power since the Feb 2021 military coup. This is not a good time to come visit, take selfies, and travel around the country !!! Even though you might be able to stay safe because a friend told you it was possible, please think to yourself whether or not it is "ethical" to come here in this time. This situation might last for several more years, if one day the country re-opens, there will be a moment of total excitement and euphoria, I guarantee that will be the perfect time to come, as the plague that is destroying the country will finally be eradicated.

Also, I fell like I should mention this: couchsurfing in Myanmar is illegal. If neighbors start seeing strange activity going on, they will call the police lol, no jokes.. I have never had any problem before so let's try to keep it that way. Please stay discreet and if anybody asks, including the immigration agent, tell them a random hotel name like: Agga Guest House on 13th street ;)
